We have scattered from Oregon to Rhode Island, California to Tanzania. Here tonight, in body and/or spirit, our classmates report where life has taken them these past 30 years... (in alpha order)

Walter Agnew - GE Silicones

My wife Rhonda and I have been married for over 26 years. We have 2 children, who are no longer children. Jim is 24 and Jessica is 21. Jim has a son, Hunter, who is 3. That means I'm a grandfather and I'm called Poppy. He is a real joy to us. I'm working for GE Silicones, been there less than 2 years. Prior to that I worked 26 years for BASF in Rensselaer. I enjoy taking a walk, bike riding, watching sports, and an occasional beer.

Susan Almstead - "Still Crazy After All These Years"

Married, divorced, one child - Michael (2001 Shaker Grad), 3 cats and a 5 month old puppy. Jobs include retail management, having an optical business, being in direct sales, and am currently in construction with my brother Jeff. I believe in family and friends over work and am fiercely loyal and trusting. Interests include: spirituality, movies, music, antiques, the ocean, and joy in life.

Dick Angevine - Technologies Consultant II, Automatic Data Processing

BS Electrical Engineering; United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs; Air Force Pilot Training; C-141 Pilot, Southern California; T-37 Instructor Pilot, Texas; Software Developer, Prudential Insurance. Latest Hobby: Brushing up on my high school Russian with the help and encouragement of Russian speaking coworkers.

Jim Atkins

Incredibly, 30 years have flown by since many of us last met, and, curiously, the faces I still associate with your names bear an uncanny resemblance to a group of 17’year-olds! That's not entirely bad, because all evidence to the contrary, at least part of us remains forever young that way! As they say, it isn't the years that get to you, it's the mileage...

A lot of interesting, rewarding things have occurred over the 30 years and countless miles since we walked out of the Colonie Coliseum and bid farewell to high school. Like many of you, since then I've had the good fortune to become a spouse and a parent: Susan, my lovely wife of 22 years, and I have a 20-year-old daughter, Victoria, who is presently in college and of whom we are intensely proud. We live in Galway, surrounded by the hills and woods we love, and where deer, wild turkeys, fox and an occasional coyote visit our yard. It's a far cry from the suburban Colonie neighborhood I grew up in, and it suits us.

Since 1993, I've worked for the New York State Police, first as the agency's Director of Public Information, and more recently as a civilian (non-sworn) analyst in the Planning and Research Section. In many ways, I am there what I was back in my baseball-playing days at Shaker, a utility infielder: part writer and editor, part graphic artist and desktop publisher; part historian and part futurist. It seems there's still a place in this world for a jack-of-all-trades.

After graduating from St. Rose, I worked as a newspaper reporter (1977-79) with the old Knickerbocker News, an assistant public relations officer with the NYS Energy Office (79-89) and Director of Communications for the State Division for Youth (89-93). I've also done some freelance writing and editing.

These days, however, I find my life's greatest satisfactions away from work: I still love to fish and hunt, and to play music. Our group, "Fire in the Kitchen", performs traditional and contemporary acoustic Celtic, bluegrass and folk music, and I try to make a modest contribution on 5-string banjo, 6- and 12-string guitar, mandolin and harmonica. After all these years, I still find music to be life-affirming, good for the soul, and a source of enjoyment and comfort to others.

Kristina Baar-Young, RN - semi-retired

I attended Morrisville Ag and Tech , enlisted in the Navy for 4 years: Hospital Corps School, Operating Tech School, and Surgery Clinic Supervisor. I married, divorced, and had one child. I went to Nursing School and became a Registered Nurse in Surgery for 3 years, then switched to Home Health. My book, "Multiplicity: Slivers of the Mind" was published in 1994. In 1997, I was forced to retire due to two back surgeries followed by a stroke, neurosurgery, and a final back surgery. I continue to write, occasionally assist in the therapy of MPD clients, and enjoy time with family and friends. My daughter recently married and will be living in Texas. My grandson is 6 and just lost his first tooth.

Lauren Balog-MacDonald - NYS Dept Environmental Conservation

I can't believe it's 2002. Remember the 8th grade field trip to NYC to view the movie "2001 A Space Odyssey" which seemed so far off? That should really jog the memory banks for some of you. I'm not sure too many of us really watched the movie!

On a personal note, I’ve been divorced 20 years. The last 10 years I’ve been involved in a "long-term" relationship and reside in Brunswick with Jim and our two special dogs. I also helped Jim raise his three teenage boys (yes -three of them) which are grown now. We really appreciate our quiet times. I have 28 years with the State (proves I can keep a job anyway). With all those years I can retire soon. God willing, the next 30 years I plan on working less and pursuing my interests which consists of reading (trying to keep up with the Best Sellers), skiing, traveling and shopping. As I did not attend the other reunions, I especially look forward to seeing everyone.

Kathy Barna - software consultant

Hello everyone! I live in Virginia, but work remotely as a computer software consultant for a company headquartered in Malvern, PA. Who would have guessed? I was very weak in math and science, but love computers. Go figure. I stay in touch with Meg Dorsey, Leslie Howland, Karen Green and Mary Chris Inglis-sometimes. Best to all!

Elaine Belokopitsky - Financial Manager, RPI

I came to RPI in May of 1988. Previously worked for Factron/Schlumberger where I had been employed in Training, Marketing, and as a Sales Coordinator in Customer Service. Schlumberger moved to California and I remained. Professor Block offered me a position as Assistant to the Director of the LINAC. I enjoy managing the LINAC budget and running off to gem trade shows (in Arizona) to try to drum up business. However, after 4 years, my supervisor asked if I would take over as Assistant to the Chairman of the department. For the last 9 years I have been working in my current position, which includes staffing, and budgeting for the department. I enjoy travel, volleyball and gardening.

Barbara Bickford-Kerker - music teacher

After finishing 4 years at SUNY Oswego, I married Michael Kerker and we settled in the Oswego area. In 1989, we moved to Elizabethtown, PA, in scenic Lancaster county. We have two girls: Sarah, 21, recently graduated from Bloomsburg U. and Amy, 18, begins study at Penn State this fall. Mike works for Armstrong Floors, and I teach piano. I still have horses and enjoy riding and showing.

Joe Bohl - Director, Center for Independent Living

I've lived in Reno since 1980. I moved out to Tahoe in 74, attended the 20 yr. reunion and had a good time, but never had enough time to get around to everyone, if that is possible to do.

Briefly, I broke my back in a sky diving accident in 87, returned to school to finish my undergrad degree in Recreation Administration at the University Nevada Reno. During that time I signed with the VISTA program for the federal government and started a local recreation program at the Center for Independent Living in Northern Nevada called NNCIL. The program is still going and growing. It is a local non-profit agency providing a variety of support services for people with disabilities. We serve sixteen counties. There are IL centers all over the country providing similar services. Shortly after accepting this position my income shrank, my hair loss increased, and the graying began!

I'm still active in sports such as snow and water skiing, riding ATV's, and sailing both on water and on land in a unique type of sailing that is perfect for Nevada with all the dry lake beds/playa/desert we have near us.

Cathie Bosselman-Altman, Esq

After graduating, I went to SUNYA for two years, where I met Allen, my husband. When he went to grad school in Buffalo, I went too and finished my undergrad degree at SUNY Buffalo. From there we moved to Syracuse for more grad school, and after being thoroughly frozen out there, we headed to sunny Florida in 1980. I went to the University of Florida law school where I graduated with honors, and ultimately began doing public service work in legal services/legal aid, which I still do today. We live in St. Augustine, a beautiful historic town on the ocean about one hour south of Jacksonville, and have THREE TEENAGERS in the house (a couple of them are up for adoption, if anyone's interested). We have a serious focus on research regarding juvenile diabetes, since our youngest child was diagnosed as a toddler, so that issue is very important to us.

M Lynn Bradley - VP Troy Savings Bank

After graduating I attended Boston College and majored in History. I spent a semester abroad in England where I concentrated on European History during the period between WWI and WWII. Needless to say, graduating magna cum laude with a BA in History and a concentration in European History did not exactly prepare me for a career. Having spent all of my parents money and goodwill, I found myself newly married to another BC graduate and back in the Capital District. I spent the next few years in various un-fulfilling jobs, so I decided to get serious about a career and earned a Master's degree from RPI in Urban and Environmental Planning. Less than a year after earning my degree, my husband and I gave birth to our first daughter Emily - now age 21 and a senior at Fordham in "da Bronx." In a feeble attempt to balance home and career I've held a number of now mostly fulfilling positions with both public and private companies and in between jobs I had a son, Michael who is now 17. I'm now a Vice President in Commercial Real Estate. I still love my family, my good friends, hiking in the Adirondacks, running, skiing, swimming and laughing. (P.S. in the Fall, my son Michael will be following in his parents footsteps and will attend Boston College...to study History. Apparently I failed to impart the old adage that goes something like " If you don't know the past you are doomed to repeat it." Oh well he has 30 years to figure that one out). "You don't stop laughing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop laughing"

Frank Breen - Still tied to the computer all day

I lived in Massachusetts before my father took a job at Siena in 1970. Shaker High was quite a step up from the less affluent school system that I left in Dracut. Why, I never did see no school with a swimming pool. After Shaker, I joined several other alumni as a commuter student at Albany State. When my family left NY in 1974, I went on to finish my college education at the state university that is now UMASS Lowell. Eventually, I got into the software engineering and recently I worked for one of those notorious ‘dot com dot gone’ companies. I was inspired to put together this web page (Shaker72) because I was in the web page business and it seemed like an interesting way to get in touch with my past. Since then I have moved on to less exciting and hopefully more secure work at Sky Computers in Chelmsford, MA.

I met my wife, Allison, while we both worked for the Raytheon Corporation (maker of Patriot Missiles). We were married in 1987 and have a daughter: Robin born 1989 and son Adam born 1996. We live in the historic town of Concord, MA only a few miles from the bridge where the farmers stood and fired the shot heard round the world.

I totally missed the tenth year reunion but I was all signed up for the twentieth. Tragically, I missed that one also - I got the date mixed up with another event that week. I am looking forward to the thirtieth. This time I will be more careful to remember on which night it is held.

Deborah Briger - Shaker Pediatrics

I have lived in Colonie since graduation and own my own home. I have 2 great kids...Lindsay who is 20 and in her junior year at SUNY Albany, and Allyson who is 7 and going into the second grade at Roessleville Elementary and I work at Shaker Pediatrics in Latham.

Janice Brooks-Iannacone - Claims Examiner, Computer Science Corp

I've been married 29 years. We have 2 wonderful sons, Philip 28 & Michael 26. No grandchildren yet, but I'm looking forward to some. I enjoy spending as much time with my family as possible. Took line dancing lessons with my sisters and a few friends. That was a lot of fun. I used to do cake decorating and flower arranging. I live a simple & quiet life so not to much to tell. That’s my life in a nut shell ha ha. Where did the time go? I remember when I turned 18 and could drink and smoke in front of my mom ha! ha! ha!. Love my job - it's interesting and I'm always learning new things.

Eldeen Bryan-Gifford - Award-Winning Baker/Icer

Still living in Rensselaerville the town where I was born. Moved here after I finished Austin Beauty School where I received my Cosmetology License. Worked for awhile at the trade. In 1975 went to work for the Albany Typographical Union as secretary to the Union President. In 1990 was elected to the position of Secretary-Treasurer of the Union. Remained in that job until 2001. Took time off. Now, I clean office's at the Rensselaerville Institute; but my real passion is cake decorating. I started with the Wilton courses in 1990 and was about to start course 3 in 1991 when my brother (class of 78) was killed in a motorcycle accident. Suffered an emotional breakdown and never got to finish my courses, so I started learning on my own. Must have done something right, won prizes at local fairs. Took home Best of Fair two years, only been entering for 3! My husband Jim and I celebrated our 20th anniversary in September with a renewal of our vows at a small church where my mother went as a child. It has no electricity, just gas lamps. We were married by a town justice the first time, so I wanted my mother to walk me down the aisle, she will be 84 this year. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Mary Ann Caldwell-Tankersly - Sr Court Assistant, Rensselaer County Family Court

After graduation, I traveled a bit, reciting my poetry at coffee houses and rathskellers. I took a few courses at various colleges, working towards my Bachelor’s in Psychology, then became a mother. Nicole is the mother of two boys. Michael is the father of two boys. Felicia, asked that I write this quote to describe her, "I know how to hate because I know how to love." Voltaire) so she’s the philosopher in the family! Jay is in the process of finding and defining himself.

I’ve held various jobs such as, working in an inner city health facility, teaching pre-GED classes to low income women; and Executive Assistant to the Director of a Substance Abuse Treatment program.

My personal life is on the upswing. I have a very special person in my life. I enjoy bowling, reading, arts and crafts, cooking and making candy, although there never seem to be enough time.

Lisbeth Camarota-Schutz, RN

Graduated from Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. Met my husband of 27 years (Ron), an RPI grad with a Masters in Chemical Engineering. Lived outside Las Vegas for the first 14 years of marriage. Ron’s first job was for Titanium Metals. I worked in the intensive care nursery and took ten years off to raise three children. Sabrina is 24 and teaches math, science and health, graduated Summa Cum Laude from BGSU. Bradley is 21 and a senior at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in business finance. He is also the starting short stop for their Division 1 baseball team and is hoping to get drafted. Vanessa just graduated from high school with a 3.96 gpa and is a freshman at Miami Univ of Ohio majoring in journalism. She also plays volley ball and volunteers a lot of her time to charitable causes. We have lived in Canfield OH for the last 13 years. Ron works for RMI Titanium and travels all over the world opening new markets. I’m currently working in a doctors office which specializes in ear, nose, throat problems. Hope you all have a good time at the reunion.

Tali Chutz-Adelstein - Director, Sales & Marketing, "World Trade Center" Baltimore

Since graduation I have lived in Greece, France, Israel, Portugal and here in the wonderful USA. I lived in Manhattan for about 5 years and then went on to Europe. Came back in the late 70's and moved to Boston for almost 13 years. I met my first, current and wonderful husband (who is several years younger than moi) in Boston and we were married in Israel in 1988. We have two angelic daughter's (who are we kidding). Ariella is 12 years young and Rebecca (aka Maxi) is 10 years. I will not even begin to tell you what I have done over the last 30 years, but this much I will tell you, it’s been one fantastic roller coaster ride.

I was unable to make the 20th reunion since I had just given birth. I fondly remember the 10th reunion. I had just returned from Israel where my younger sister, Zivi had been married in Netanya (the same hotel that was just recently blown apart at Passover). I remember having the most wonderful time and seeing so many of my friends. I especially remember Bummer. There are so many friends I think of and am truly excited about being there for the 30th. OK, the diet begins today, the "tummy tuck, face lift, etc.... next month. (ha ha). Seriously, I am truly excited about revisiting our youth, our home area and our special Shaker High School and all the friends. I hope that whomever reads this will contact me. I especially enjoyed Marty Silverman's letter on the web. I needed a good laugh and certainly got one from that. YES, I SHALL BE THERE WITH BELLS ON. I wish everyone the very best of health, love and happiness. Looking forward to seeing, hugging and talking with all of you.

Peter Clemente - anyone remember the summer drive-in thriller Texas Chainsaw Massacres?

Diane and I have been happily married for 24 years and have two sons: Kevin 20, attends SUNY Utica for electrical engineering, and Mike 18 attends Hudson Valley for mechanical engineering. We live in Grafton in a log home we built ourselves. We raise our own animals for food and have a greenhouse for gardening. I have my own business called TreeCraft doing chain saw carvings and Diane works as a seamstress in her business called Sew What.

Rob Cloud MD - Surgeon

Hi everyone, it's been a long time. I’m a surgeon in Dallas, have three children, Kyle 21, Ashley 18 and Tyler 13. I divorced since the 20th reunion and have recently married Connie. I’ve kept in touch with Dennis and Kathy Hogan, Bruce Himelstein, Robin Frazier and Dave Lidstone. Haven't been back to Albany since the 20th reunion and am hoping for a 30th. Hope to hear from some of my classmates.

David "Rico" Connor - nightclub owner and more... can you say 6-pack?

I've been running upscale nightclubs and gentlemen's clubs all over the country, now run the best gentlemen's club in Las Vegas called Spearmint Rhino. I've been divorced for years and have two beautiful, smart kids: Jason, a 21 year old junior at Georgia and Jade, a 17 year old senior in HS near Atlanta.

Besides being around beautiful women for a living, I'm investing in real estate on the side, have written a book called "Total Health for Life: Mind & Body", and am working on opening up a huge vitamin company in Japan with a partner. Life is good.....I'm never leaving Las Vegas! I won the first bodybuilding show I've ever competed in this past May (at 47) at the Hard Rock ‘ Nevada State Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships (no juice...all natural). I'll be in the Jan 2003 issue of Muscle & Fitness. Look me up if you come to Sin City!

Melvin "Tripp" Corbett - Dir Performance Analysis & Special Projects, MTA Metro-North RR

I wish our homework assignments at Shaker were this easy! I don’t have much to write because there really isn’t anything new and exciting to report. I’m working at MTA in NYC where I’ve been since leaving college except for a brief hitch with Amtrak in Philly in the mid-90's. I’m still single and live about 30 miles ‘up river’ in Westchester County, which isn’t a bad commute by NYC standards. In my spare time I collect model airplanes and airline memorabilia, and I’m active in the music program at church. Incidentally, I very rarely use the nickname "Tripp" anymore. It’s reserved for family, old friends and classmates. Tod Gold and John Heid used to kid me by calling me "Mel" and I absolutely hated it. Thirty years later, that’s the name I answer to 99% of the time. How times change!

George Criscione - guess what he sells on the streets of NY?

Live as normal a life as can be imagined. Married in 1979 to a woman I met while I struggled to graduate from SUNY Albany. I’m the proud father of 2 sons, Adam (22) and Philip (19). Have lived in W Orange since 1986 and work in the garment district in NY selling jeans (Hey, it’s a job!). Many thanks to Wanda (as long as she doesn’t abscond with the money) (Note from Wanda: Hmmmm, now there’s an idea) and Frank (who was about the only guy I could beat when we ran track). Looking forward to seeing everyone (hope name tags are included in the price of admission).

Kevin Daigle - went postal!

Since graduation I’ve had several jobs, but have been working for the Post Office in Latham for over 25 years. In 1975, I married another ‘72 Shaker graduate, Marilyn Frank and we have two daughters; Nicole graduated from UMass Amherst in 2001 with a business major and Casey is in her third year at Sage College.

Reggie Daigle - Phys Ed teacher Blue Creek & Cheryl DeVito-Daigle Tech Asst Town of Colonie

We’ve been married for 27 wonderful years, residing in Latham for the past 18 years with our son, Cody. Reggie is a physical education teacher at Blue Creek for over 20 years. He also coached football for 12 years and track and field for 20 years. Both were Bison teams, of course! Cheryl is working for N Colonie as a technician assistant. This includes trouble-shooting and repairing computers and printers. Cody is our pride and joy. He will be graduating from Shaker in ‘02 and attending RPI in the fall. He wants to major in Environmental Engineering and will play lacrosse. He followed in his dad’s footsteps in that he is a drummer. As you can guess, it hasn’t always been tranquil living in a house with 2 drummers!

Jerry Daly - Mercer Human Resource Consulting

After graduating from the University of Vermont, I took a job with The Travelers Insurance Co. thinking I'd do it for a couple of years. It turned out to be twenty-two years since it was more fun than I expected, they taught me every part of the business, and I met a lot of great people, including my wife Donna. We've lived in the Hartford, CT area for 18 years now and have 2 great kids; a son who is a sophomore in high school ( 6' 4" and playing hoop, golf ) and a daughter who is in 8th grade (hoop, field hockey) and whose classmate is Lynn Kelly's daughter...it's a small world. I'm now working with Mercer Human Resource Consulting (benefits, retirement, compensation, etc for large corporations ) which is very interesting since we're basically hired to solve problems, inject new ideas, or negotiate with the insurance companies.

Peter Dashiell

When I think about courage, integrity, righteousness, honesty, humility, persistence, compassion, and all the values that are good, wholesome, and American, I can still match-up at least one of you with that trait. I have learned that really I am nothing more than the sum of all that I have been able to put together over the years. And the most influential years along with the most meaningful education I acquired came from learning moral and behavioral assets from my high school classmates (many who may not have realized that they were teaching me).

I enlisted in the Air Force to technical school learning long-range ground radar repair. I spent some more time learning to be a Security Policeman and a communication repairman. After my honorable discharge I worked for Pinkerton’s as a rent-a-cop until I found employment in Ballston Spa repairing and designing large telephone systems. During all this time I attended college at HVCC and Skidmore (in the first class to allow men). I met and married a lovely young lady, Linda, from Saratoga Springs and we have been married now for 27yrs. I have learned being happy doesn’t mean everything is perfect, it means you have decided to look beyond the imperfections. We have two children; Sean is 26 and is working for Pinkerton’s and Kimberly is 22 and works in childcare.

After a year of working in Boston we moved to Denver where we have been for the last twenty-two years. Shorting after coming to Denver I began being an Entrepreneur. My more recent business ventures include, Telephone Warehouse and Custom Phone Service ‘ we do business phone systems and computer networking. Also I am the founder and for the first ten years chairman of the Telecommunication Association of Colorado, TAC, which is a group of the finest telecommunication and data professionals in the area. I also formed Information Village International, IVI, a collation of telecom companies sharing resources. I am a silent 50% partner in Golden Rule Distributing, an Internet development company. I am a founding member of Business Connections of Colorado, a group of leading professionals representing many different industries. I have been honored for the last two years to be President of the Aurora Alliance Missionary Churches Men’s Fellowship. My latest endeavor is a publishing ministry, You Never Can Tell, YNCT, publishing the experiences of the common Christian.

While all these efforts have been rewarding and brought me great personal honor, I can not boast of them as much as my failures and weakness. The summation of the most significant true life experiences I have had, those facing fear, are expressed in my book, An American Zero. I will provide free copies to classmates.

It is my hope and desire that as we discover the truths in life, we will take the time to share and pass on our experiences to future generations. To this end I offer my help to each and every one of you

Bryan Daus and Debbie LaCavera - independent agents for Primerica Financial Services

Bryan capped off a 21 year Colonie police career with retirement December 25, 1998. The next morning, we packed up 2 moving trucks and gleefully departed cold and snowy Albany to the much warmer climes of Cape Coral Florida on the Gulf of Mexico in sunny southwest Florida! We successfully transitioned to new careers as personal financial analysts and will soon open our first independent office of Primerica Financial Services. Our licenses include products and programs for life, health, variable annuities as well as securities, mortgage brokerage, long-term care and prepaid legal services. And yes, we are life and securities licensed in New York! Additionally, we are real estate licensed in Florida. So, if your dream is to buy a winter or full-time residence in the paradise known as sunny southwest Florida feel free to contact us. We’d be happy to assist you!

Sharon Davenport-Rogers

Well for all that don’t remember me, I was the one that arrived at graduation in an ambulance. I broke my leg at a track meet a month before graduation. YES WE WON THE MEET! Because of the body cast I was not able to attend McMurray State University. I had to settle for Siena. I met the love of my life, Harold, my partner of 28 years, so some good did come out of the accident. We married and move to Texas. To this union the Lord blessed us with 5 beautiful children, Micah (26) De’Atra (deceased at 2 months) Tanika (24), LeAndreia (21) and Sharrell (18). I have 6 grandchildren who call me "Nana." My husband is the pastor of a 5’year-old church, so we are quite busy. I wear several hats. I’m a mother, wife, Pastor’s wife, Adult Sunday School teacher, minister of music for 3 choirs and work a 9-5 at 7-11 Inc's. Corporate office. May the grace of our Lord and Savior be with you all.

Linda Dearstyne - therapist, private practice

I’ve been living on a dirt road in Putney VT for thirteen years. I work as a therapist in Brattleboro. Undergrad years were in Ithaca - great times, where I was involved in feminist/women’s health issues and worker-owned businesses. I became a partner at Moosewood Restaurant and worked on some of the Moosewood cookbooks.

Shortly after the Mt St Helen eruptions I moved to Oregon. My focus has been on combining political./social justice issues with spiritualism. Traveled, lived in Santa Fe for a year, then back East where I got my social work degree and worked ten years in community mental health. I was the SEIU Union rep in our center and enjoyed that role. I’m currently in private practice. In 1989 I married Gary, we love to travel, hike, cross country ski, cook and garden.

Jim DeCamp - changing careers

Christine DeLong-Peltier - antique and china repair/restoration

Married to Paul with 4 children, has her own antique and china restoration business and lives in Taftville, CT

Dale Demarest-Bryan, MA - Dir Customer Care Center, Vivius

I attended Hudson Valley Community College for a year studying accounting, for no particular reason. I married in 1973 and bought a dance studio in Latham and had fun with that for 3 years. My husband was a radio personality and I had fun as his escort to the remotes and parties and concerts. I got to meet lots of country artists and fans and groupies (before country was cool) but it was still a cool ride for a while. My husband and I moved to Minnesota in 1976 and I remained. It’s a great place to live! In 1983 I started back to school full time and earned my BS and MA at the University of Minnesota.

As with many folks, I divorced in 1990 but in 1994 remarried a great guy but lost him to a battle with cancer in February. Fortunately he and I always worked and played as if there was no tomorrow so we probably spent more quality time together in 8 years that many couples do in a whole lifetime.

For 10 years, I worked in a clinical setting in an International Employee Assistance Program, providing mental health counseling and then moved into clinical supervision and management. I managed a 300+ seat clinical call center. love the challenges and opportunities. I have a great job and love the people I work with, and can’t wait to see what more is to come.

I have two great kids, Kevin, 27 and his wife Jenn live in Dallas and they are working hard to make their 1st million. Lauren 23 and her husband Brent have just presented me with my 1st grandchild, Finnegan. I live near to my grandson so I am having fun.

I was sad to see so many of our alums have died. I have learned from the loss of my husband recently that you never know when your last minute will expire so DON"T waste one second!!!

Diane and I are living in Northern NJ and are involved in our community. We will have been married 25 years by the 30th reunion! We still enjoy the outdoors and water ski extensively. I'm still swimming 3 times a week so I've managed to stay pretty healthy. During the good weather I bicycle and also keep busy with my music and home projects all the time. Think Positive!

Meg Dorsey-Heller, Esq - Magistrate, Family Court

I am living in Atlanta, Georgia now as my husband Andy came here to take a job with Ted Turner. I had to retire my law practice in Connecticut, but eventually got up the nerve to take the bar exam in Georgia and now I’m a part time magistrate in family court. Watch out! Could be serious trouble! We have two children; Megan age 16 and Stephen age 13. We are starting the college route and she is interested in some in the Washington area so I might have to call the Hogans. If anyone ever has to come to Atlanta please get in touch. I am trying to learn the ins and outs of southern hospitality.

Paul Ertelt

Spent 20 years planting trees in Oregon. Back in Albany working for the media - rumor has it at some underground political rag.

Ed Esposito - Designer/Builder/Developer

Two children, working for a large local contractor

Ken Fake (Cooper) - professional musician, Deltabillies

Here's a too long list of what I've been doing for the last thirty years. After high school, I went to Potsdam State and graduated with a computer science degree (never used) in '76. I moved to Rochester and lived in the attic of an old abandoned summer camp. In the summer of '77, I met my wife, Lori, when a fraternity brother of mine married a sorority sister of hers. We've been together ever since (5 years living in sin + 20 years married). We moved to LA in '77 and lived there for 14 years. I played music in bands, had songs recorded by others, songs in movies, worked in record stores. Good thing Lori had a full time job. In '87, I changed my last name to Cooper (very Hollywood, don't you think?). People had a hard time taking me seriously with a name like Fake. In '90, Lori and I had John, our first and only child. We moved to Sacramento pronto. It's been a good place to raise a family but the music biz is pretty skinny. I fill my days playing music in schools, mostly kindergartens but also lots of special programs for elementary kids. It's fun and satisfying but I'll never make the cover of Rolling Stone. All in all, a good and simple life if not very exciting or glamorous. Best wishes to all. Peace, out.

Tom Fallon

I have a home in Saratoga Springs. I run a small Pharmaceutical company called ReJuveness. We market and develop products for scarring. I have a dog Bear who actually looks like a bear. I am single, and if it weren't for my dog I would feel like a childless father. I have 17 nieces and nephews perpetuating our fine line of DNA.

I still swim to keep in shape, play golf, ski, walk my dog, and probably drink a bit to much. I read extensively, mostly philosophers and authors from the 16th-19th centuries. I also have mounds of unpublished writings that I will hopefully organize into my life's work which is an attempt to reconnect modern mathematical consciousness with a more ancient religious mythological consciousness. It's theme is that human reality is composed of fictitious cores in which our beliefs and facts wrap themselves around. I hate getting old and still feel sometimes as though I just graduated. For that reason I am looking forward and loath just a bit our 30 (which seemed a big number when I saw it) year reunion.

Kathy S Farrell-Hogan - nurse mid-wife & Dennis Hogan - Proprietor, Pro-Line

Dennis and I have been living in Virginia since 1976 after we graduated from Syracuse University. We have a son, Kevin, who is a sophomore at Gettysburg college and playing basketball there. Our daughter Caitlin is in 8th grade. Dennis has his own embroidered sportswear business and I am a nurse-midwife. We enjoyed the 10th and 20th reunions and are looking forward to the 30th. We would love to hear from any Shaker '72 alumni. If you are ever in the Northern Virginia or the Washington, D.C. area please look us up.

Gayle Fasoli-DeRose - Office Manager, L-Tron Corp and Rad DeRose - President, L-Tron

I received my AAS in Dental Hygiene from Hudson Valley Community College in 1974. Married Rad DeRose in 1976. We have three children; Christopher, 23, attending Tuscon in a Phd program for Optics Engineering GAANN Fellowship. Robert, 20, attending SUNY Geneseo, Education major, and Elizabeth, 15, sophomore in High School.

Rad is President/owner at L-Tron Corporation (Barcodescannersnow.com), L-Tron.com. He earned his BS in Industrial Engineering at RPI in 1976.

Jeff Fay - Legal Researcher, NYS Legislature

Graduated St Lawrence Univ 1976, worked for the State, entered US Coast Guard Officer Candidate School 1979. Spent 20 years in the Coast Guard in New Bedford MA, NY, San Pedro CA, Coronado CA and Key West. Retired as Lt Commander in 1999. Presently working for the NYS Legislature, working towards a Masters Degree in history. I have two children, Davis (13) and Amanda (11) who live with their mother in Wyoming.

Sue Finder, Esq

I have been a lawyer in the China practice group in the Hong Kong office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, a large London-based law firm, since 1994, where I assist foreign companies investing in or doing business in China. I have two children, Hannah, aged 6, and Aaron, aged 4. My husband is a Chinese lawyer. We frequently visit the Albany area to visit my folks (and siblings) and Hoffman’s Playland is great favorite of my children.

After graduating I went to Yale, where I was a Russian Studies major and took many Chinese studies courses. Before starting Harvard Law School, I studied Chinese in Taiwan. After graduation from law school, I did a brief stint with the US government before starting a research fellowship in Moscow. My brief experience as a government bureaucrat has come in handy along the way. When I returned from Moscow, there was minimal American trade and investment involving the Soviet Union and few opportunities for lawyers with Soviet experience. I worked briefly for what was then Nolan & Heller before starting Columbia Law School’s LLM program.

Aiming towards an academic career, I was awarded a fellowship to conduct research in China. I spent a year and a half at Peking University, experiencing the reality of China. When I left Peking University, Harvard Law School offered me a fellowship to write up my Beijing research. This led to my being offered a position at one of the law schools in Hong Kong, at the City University, where I taught Chinese law and other law courses for five and a half years. Although I enjoyed the opportunities to conduct research, I felt insufficiently challenged and was encouraged (by my husband) to join Freshfields.

Molly Flannigan-Poleto, BSN, CHPN - Hospice Nurse

Graduated SUNY Canton, then to Russell Sage for my BS in Nursing. Lived and worked in Boston for 4 years, then moved back to marry the love of my life, Peter Poleto. Married 22 years, raising 2 sons and living in Delmar. My sons attended Bethlehem schools. Michael is a sophomore and John is in 8th grade. We live to get them to soccer practice, fencing lessons and hike with our dogs.

I’ve worked in hospice for 19 years, mostly part-time as I stayed home to raise my kids. Peter is a ‘computer guy’ with a graduate degree from SUNY, and is Deputy Director for NYS Office for Technology. I still look for blue and white at soccer games when Bethlehem plays Shaker and wonder how everyone is doing.

Marilyn Frank-Daigle - Federal Employee

After graduating Shaker I started working for the federal government (over 24 years ‘ boy am I old) and have been with them ever since. I work for the National Credit Union Administration since 1988 and enjoy my work very much. I have been married for 27 years to another Shaker alumnus, Kevin Daigle, and we have two beautiful daughters (Nicole 23 and Casey 20). We have lived in the town of Voorheesville since Nicole was born and both love living in the country and enjoying being with friends.

Gary Franko - Chairperson, Quantitative Business Analysis Dept, Siena College

Grew up in Latham, went to elementary school in Latham, went to junior high school in Latham, went to high school in Latham, graduated from college in Latham, teach college in Latham, married a girl from Latham (Kathy Ryan, class of 1973), bought a house in Latham, raising two boys (ages 17 and 14) in Latham. Goal in life: not to retire and die in Latham.

Robin Frazier-Oliveira, RN

Graduated from University of Montana, BA Russian. Didn't want to be a spy and the State Department said they would probably send me to Argentina despite my fluency in the language, so I opted for nursing. After further schooling, I graduated and worked seven years as a Registered Nurse in Seattle at Swedish Hospital in Cardiac Care and Bone Marrow Transplant. Married Drew Oliveira, MD, had two kids, Noelle and Miles, who are now 14 and 12. While they grew up, I taught myself to write, and my literary agent is now attempting to sell my first novel to Houghton Miflin. It's a good marriage and a good life here in Seattle, and I'm pleased to reconnect with all of you.

Debbe Freligh-Bondi

I married Tony Bondi (class of 70) and have 2 children ‘ Shana, 26 and Devon, 18. I work for the Ballston Spa school district in an elementary library.

Mike Fritz - Financial Services Industry (money man)

After Shaker, I went to Siena for a degree in accounting and then to SUNY at Albany for an MBA. I married Doris Jean almost 25 years ago and we have twin girls, Catherine and Megan, who are now 12. We moved to the Boston area, actually Winchester, after grad school and would be hard pressed to leave. My professional career has been in the Financial Services Industry with roughly half Industry (e.g., Fidelity and Putnam) and half Consulting (e.g., Coopers & Lybrand, AT Kearney and IBM Global Services). Doris Jean (DJ) went to Russell Sage College and later, Simmons for her MBA. She is an Institutional Money manager for Fidelity Investments. We spend as much time with the kids as possible, sailing in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Grant Fuller - Teacher, White Mountains Regional High School

I live in Lunenburg, VT were I bought a log home last year. I 'm finally settling down and committing to a home after having lived in Kansas, Indiana, Iowa ,Virginia, Massachusetts, Ohio, New Jersey, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Texas and New Mexico (No I'm not wanted by the FBI). I've also not stayed anywhere long enough to get married. I teach Art and coach Soccer and Track in New Hampshire. The area is great for skiing, hiking, canoeing, and camping and the big reason I moved here along with being closer to my parents who have retired to Becket, MA. I’ve also taught Physical Education, Biology and even some Chorus in my travels. Coaching has been a big part of my life, in soccer I have served on state coaching staffs and was the Director of Coaching for Louisiana. My teams have won district championships in New Mexico and Texas where I was District Coach of the Year. The Track teams I have coached have won championships for Western New England, New Jersey Prep Conference, district and regional (Metairie Park Country Day School, LA) and defending state champions (White Mountains).

My other big hobby has been theater where I've had principal roles in civic, university, and summer stock productions. Some family notes: my sister Heidi passed away a few years ago after serving as a Baptist Minister in Rochester, my brother Tom is doing archeology in Arizona, and my youngest brother Dirck is a financial analyst for Microsoft. I hope to get to the reunion if it doesn't interfere with soccer.

Carl Gardner - Builder/Developer

I missed the 20th reunion because I was days away from becoming a father for the first time. I am not going to miss this one, so here's a very brief summary of my life these past 20 years or so...It took until 1991 to find a woman foolish enough to marry me. We "found" each other via a blind date in Boston suggested by a mutual friend. Ironically, she is from Amsterdam and graduated in 1979 from St. Lawrence. Rosemary (Romy) Riccio. We were hitched the day before Hurricane Bob hit the northeast. A warning perhaps? We have three great kids;- Grace (9 1/2), Claire (6 1/2) and Jack (3 1/2). They tire us out, but also keep us young. After my BS in Biology at UConn, I attended URI for a couple of years in pursuit of an MA in Marine Affairs (coastal land use planning and management). Never completed my thesis and left to get a real world job to start paying off my college debt. I worked as a Conservation Administrator in Reading, MA for 3 years then left to join the "enemy", becoming a project manager for the development division of Maine Post & Beam, a major single-family homebuilder in eastern New England at the time. While with MP&B I built my first home -- a two-unit townhouse overlooking the Cove in central Ipswich, MA. I jumped ship in March 1987 to start my own development and building business. Nine months later, MP&B filed for bankruptcy. The stock market crash of 1987 was soon followed by the real estate crash of 1989-90. I crawled my way out of the hole for the next several years. The last 4 years have been my reward. The real estate market in the Boston area is one of the hottest in the nation, and the most insane! A double-edged sword though... You make good money for new homes, but it's very expensive to build them and do so on schedule. Land is also very hard to find and get "permitted". Lately, I have been concentrating on the development of mixed income affordable housing. I build an occasional custom home if the timing and client is right. For recreation, the beach is 4 miles down the road. We love living at the coast, and own a little 16 foot Lund that gets us out to the more remote beaches of Crane's and Plum Island. My Mom still owns a cottage in Wellfleet, Cape Cod, so we get down there, too. ‘Romy's’ family also has a kid-friendly camp on Sacandaga Lake. I hope Wanda has name tags with the "before" pictures on them. Otherwise, I'll be lost!

Lydia Garvey, BSN - Indian Health Services

I had many minimum wage jobs & partied - wanted more. I earned my BSN in community health & psych nursing. Served in the Peace Corps in Oman (Saudi Arabia) which was really cool - like living in Christ's time. Had a vision. Wanted to work with an Indian tribe that was spirited - one that held out against the Whites the longest - Sioux or Apache. I checked out Indian Health Service, Rosebud was the only field job available. Must have been meant to be - I’ve been serving the Sioux(Lakota) in Rosebud SD for 21 years. I live in gov't quarters and have been through so many incredible experiences here - always learning - especially the sun-dances & ceremonies. I'm responsible for a certain geographic part of the reservation. See every pregnant woman, newborn, toddlers to age 4, handle various communicable diseases like TB, go into the schools, home visits, also elders, diabetes, cardiac etc. Also handle quite a bit of social, mental health & environmental issues, do referrals & coordination. I never married - not for me. I have a 14 year old Lakota child named Ruby Star & 3 dogs. I enjoy gardening, walking, part of an estimated.400 groups working for the environment, native, civil rights, women’s rights, animal rights etc. Do a lot of reading & writing. Write my senators & rep in DC every other weekend. I love the fresh air, wide open spaces, tribal people, remoteness etc..

Jack Goetz, Esq - President & Dean, Concord Law School

I regret feeling out of touch with everyone but look forward to trying to come back for the 30th. I have tried to keep in touch with Jaime MacFarland and Mark Rosenthal, but as I am sure we all feel, the time and distance does pose some real impediments for all of us. However, even if you don’t remember me, I always like hearing about other people’s lives, so I offer this brief bio as part of our class enrichment.

Unless you actually read the Shaker Bison 30 years ago when I was editor or remember me eating more slices of pie than anyone else at the senior banquet, or followed the fortunes of the Shaker tennis team, then you would probably remember my brother Ted better (since he ended up being senior class president the year after we graduated). BTW, Ted is Chief Engineer of the International Space Station, which is a ‘one of a kind’ job although he does deserve your empathy, given that he has to live in Houston!

For me, unfortunately, the tennis gig just didn’t fly. I started college at the University of Southern California, where despite my Shaker tennis success I could barely beat the last person on the JV team. So I had to focus on a real career. After graduating from Boston University Law School in 1979, I moved back to Los Angeles. I have been married 20 years to a judge, and I have a 16-year old daughter who wants to be a sports broadcaster and a 14-year old son whose massive baseball card collection draws raves from dealers.

When my wife is not around, I will tell you tell you that the best thing that ever happened to me since high school was agreeing to coach my son’s last place Mustang League (9-10 year olds) baseball team and ending up winning a regional championship (sort of a Bad News Bears re-run. Yes, our star was our very mature girl pitcher, who was so successful, she managed to get me and her on the ESPN website)!

Professionally, however, I have been involved in legal education as an entrepreneur and professor for the last 23 years. I have built, sold and merged various legal education companies that have tutored students on passing the bar exam or have created educational study aids for law students. In 1997, I founded for Kaplan, Inc. (a subsidiary of the Washington Post Company) the nation’s only totally online law school, Concord, and serve the school as its President and Dean. I recall scoring a record low on some Mechanical Reasoning test they administered at Shaker, which I was told at the time was an all-time low. Think there was something about the pulley system that I had backwards. How that translates into building the first online law school is not clear, except that I hired some very good programmers!

In all seriousness, the education I received at Shaker, both in the classroom as well as digging out the snow in the driveway, has held me in good stead. The friendships I enjoyed then are lifetime treasures and I am hoping to work my schedule so that I may see each of you again at the 30th.

Tod A Gold Esq

Graduated Colgate magna cum laude 1976, George Washington University with honors in 1979, LL.M. Environmental Law 1987. Member Phi Beta Kappa and authored "EPA’s Pretreatment Program", Boston College Environmental Affairs Law Review, Spring 1989. Practicing Environmental Law with Ogden Murphy Wallace PLLC after serving for many years with the EPA. I have enjoyed living in Seattle since 1990. In no particular order, I like winter sunsets over Puget Sound, watching my little one sleep, the Sopranos, single malt scotch, cheering for Sam Perkins when he played for the Sonics, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, weekends in Vancouver or at the Oregon Coast, reaching settlement agreements (I have an environmental law practice), Roseanne Cash, and seeing old friends.

Jay Gomez - VOPAK USA

It's hard to believe it's been 30 years! I just celebrated my 25th anniversary with VOPAK USA, which is a Chemical Distributor. My first 15 years with them had me moving quite often. After starting in Albany I've spent time living in CT, NJ, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Seattle and finally in the suburbs of Chicago where we've been for the past 10 years. I do quite a bit of traveling, primarily in the Midwest, and find it interesting to see where some of our classmates are living. My wife, Karen, and I have a son Jordan (15) and a daughter named Sara (12).

Karen Green-Bardawill

I graduated with a BA in philosophy from Wells college in 1976. I moved to Boston after graduating and met my husband Larry on the green line (Subway). While in Boston I worked as a Paralegal. We got married the day after he graduated from medical school in 1979 and moved to Chicago to weather his years of training. I worked for the American Red Cross until the birth of our oldest child. We have two children; Eric age 20 and Elise age 17. Eric is a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania and Elise just started her senior year of High School. I spent most of the intervening years as a stay at home Mom but managed to earn a Masters in Psychology Counseling along the way. I graduated last May, finally! Since graduation, I have worked in my field with college students and welfare clients. Two kids and two dogs keep us very busy although next year we will face the empty nest as my youngest heads off to college. We have done quite a bit of traveling with and without the kids and will hopefully ease into the giddy life of no kids with ease!

MaryEllen Halpin

After I graduated, I got my Bachelor's in Speech and Hearing at SUNY New Paltz. I worked for a year at Oak Hill School, Scotia, then got my Master's in Communication Disorders at St. Rose. While working on my Master's, I married Michael Moore in 1978. We just celebrated our 24th anniversary. My husband is a partner in an environmental law firm in Albany. We have two great kids. Erin is 19, a sophomore biology major at Fairfield University in Connecticut. Caroline is 16, a junior at Guilderland HS. I've worked as a Speech Pathologist at the Center for the Disabled for the past 13 yrs. I enjoy playing golf, hiking, traveling. I feel truly blessed to have my health, my family and many good friends.

John Heid - Director, Mail Service Operations, Walgreens

I’ve really enjoyed reading the bios that classmates have submitted, and a BIG thanks to Frank for making it all possible. Graduated from WPI (Worcester Polytechnic Institute) with a BS in Chemical Engineering, and went to Stamford, CT to work for Clairol. Got transferred to Calif, then promoted and transferred back a few years later. Decided I liked Calif better, so went to work for Max Factor in Hollywood, only to be transferred to Oxford, NC a year later. Got married and we both decided that NC wasn’t for us, so moved back to Calif with Lever Brothers. Went to school at night for my MBA through Pepperdine, and then became a plant manager for a small pharmaceutical company. Joined Medco (prescriptions by mail) and moved back to Albany in 1989, then moved on to Kolmar (cosmetics) in Goshen in 1992. I’ve been with Walgreens Healthcare Plus (prescriptions by mail division of Walgreens, the largest US drugstore chain) for the past 8 years, living in Phoenix. I have responsibility for three facilities in Phoenix, Portland and Orlando, so between visits there and to HQ in Chicago, I travel a lot. We do over $1 Billion annually, and are growing like crazy, so it’s a good business to be in (since all of us baby boomers keep getting older and need help from the wonderful world of pharmaceuticals!)

Along the way, Lucille and I had two boys... Tim is 17, and Kevin is 14, and we also have 2 golden retrievers that keep us busy. Still love to ski, and golf though the knees don’t hold up very well for tennis anymore, and there is not much ocean in Arizona for sailing the Hobie Cat!

Here’s hoping that I’ll see you all at the 40th! Hope everyone is doing well

Pieri Henyan-Hayes - Dispatcher, Colonie Police

Upon graduation from high school, I went to work for a bank, in the mortgage department. From there, the student loan department and eventually home improvement loans and mobile home loans. I was at the bank for 8 years. For the next seven years, I worked in various areas of finance, retirement planning, fixed income brokerage and financial consulting. After meeting my second husband, a NYS Trooper at the time, I decided to pursue an entirely different career. As of this writing, I have been a dispatcher for 14 years. It is a very rewarding career and I am glad I made the change.

Robert & I have been married for 15 years and we have a wonderful 13-year-old son. I have a 23-year-old stepson and a 21-year-old stepdaughter. He is in the army, stationed in Germany and she is in college in Plattsburgh.

I lost my mother to cancer, in 1983, and my father to heart failure, in 1996. My brother, Woody, lives in the western part of the state and we are quite close. In my free time, I enjoy pottery and have taken several courses to improve my skills. I hope to have a wheel and a kiln of my very own, in the not too distant future. I also enjoy selling items on EBay. Isn't going to make me rich, but it's fun.

We lost our wonderful Gretchen, a yellow Labrador, in 2000. She was 13years old and had a wonderful life with us that included two litters of beautiful puppies. I still have a feisty African Gray named "Minkah" and a very verbal "Mrs. Peepers," who is a cockatiel I look forward to the reunion and seeing people after all this time.

Dave Hill - owns engineering business

I went off to RPI and was fortunate enough to spend some time with Dave Gallemore before his tragic accident. Studied electrical engineering, made it through, but not without a struggle! Graduated and moved to central Connecticut to work for United Technologies, in the Hamilton Standard Division (they make propellor blades and space suits!). I had a great job as a facilities electrical engineer. While there I met the woman who would become my "practice wife". Before that romantic detour, I left United Technologies to work as the mill electrical engineer for Scott Paper in Fort Edward. Job move was a Big mistake, but living in Saratoga was fun! Moved back to Connecticut (Stamford this time) and worked as a Sales Engineer for a large engineering company based in Birmingham. They relocated to Knoxville, I stayed in Connecticut and worked as a controls & instrumentation engineer in and around NYC. Traveled and worked on projects all around the US. Around this time, I got married and moved to West Hartford, started a small systems integration company, worked crazy hours, put the wife through grad school, my business started to take-off....and so did the "practice wife". Sold the house, relocated the business (now 7 people), bought a big boat, lived aboard (in Stamford) and spent a few years recovering from "THE TROUBLES"!

pause here to wipe away any tears....

After a short time, I met a wonderful lady while I was working on a Habitat for Humanity in Bridgeport, CT. Got married to my "real wife" Nina, sold the big boat, bought a house, had two great kids, got a small sailboat, started another engineering business....back to doing fine! Nina and I are still active & involved with Habitat, although not nearly as much. For three years I served on the board of directors of the local HFH chapter and Nina co-chaired the Family Selection Committee (in Bridgeport, it’s handy that she speaks Spanish!). I also traveled to Mexico for a week to work with former President Jimmy Carter and I was invited & traveled to the UK to assist in the setup of the first Habitat chapter in Great Britain. Nina and I have been fortunate enough to do some traveling, both before and after our children arrived. We almost moved to Taiwan just before our son was born, spent a few weeks in Taipei where we attracted A LOT of attention (I am over 6' tall and had a full beard; she is little, blond and was 6 months pregnant!). We've enjoyed the beaches of Portugal, the rolling hills (and wines) of Tuscany, winter vacations in Puerto Rico and quick trips to Block Island. Nina has a Holy Cross classmate who works in the State Department, so we were able to get an insider's tour of the West Wing and the State Department last summer during a Washington trip. Needless to say, those tours don't happen anymore. Our children (Justin is 9, Molly Jo is 7 going on 17) were much more interested in Dorothy's Ruby Slippers at the Smithsonian than the White House press room anyway!

I'm still a computer geek and my kids are showing early signs of geek-dom! We live in southern Connecticut, just outside NYC, and would enjoy hearing from other Shaker folks. Just recently my old friend Neil Inglis got in touch with me in his quest to find a chemical engineering job back East. (Anyone need a good Environmental Health and Safety Manager? Neil wants to talk to you!) Looking forward to the reunion! See you there.

Todd Hoffman - Executive VP, Hunter Douglas

Like everyone else I to am in disbelief (and partial denial) that it has been 30 years since we graduated. Prior to writing this I looked back into our yearbook. Scary! Although I do not remember Frank Breen, I congratulate him on this fantastic website. It has put me back in touch with a few old and dear friends. After finishing school (eventually), I went to work in the corporate world of Sales, Marketing, General, & Corporate Management, having the opportunity to live and work in Hartford, Albany (twice), Cincinnati, and Tampa. We finally settled in beautiful Naples, Fl. where I work as Executive V.P. for a Hunter Douglas Window Fashions Fabrication Company. Through my career travels, my family has been by my side, consisting of my wife Barbara (White Plains, NY), our 18 year old son Todd, a freshman at Florida State (an aspiring Sports & Entertainment Attorney), and 15 year old daughter Taylor who is interested in 3 things: boys, soccer (started varsity as a Freshman this past year), and boys. This apple may have fallen too close to the tree and what scares me is that my wife tells me not to worry about her, to just remember back when’that’s my problem! Hopefully my schedule will allow me to travel up to the reunion in October and renew some wonderful memories.

Diane Hogan, BA, MA - NYS Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities

(this is, by far, my favorite bio! Wanda) I received my degrees in Community Psychology/Counseling and work for NYS awaiting retirement at 55. Life has been good to me. My first partner of 20+ yrs taught me the value of connection, my current partner the value of laughter, my family the value of roots, my friends the value of support and my dogs the value of life simply lived. I now enjoy volunteering and playing with the grandchildren.

Dennis Hogan - see Kathy Farrell

Chris Howe-Quaglieri

Married Ned Greeson right after HS. Was divorced a year later. No children. Worked as a waitress for a few years then went to HVCC for AAS in Radiologic Technology. Met my present husband, Tony in 1980. Married in 1982. Bought a house in Glenville (9 years). Got sober in 1988, still sober today! Yeah! Moved to Vermont for 5 years, bought another house. Worked as Xray, Mammo Technologist for the past 20 years, most recently at St Clare's. Moved back to area 4 years ago, bought our 3rd house. Whew! Am studying Graphic Design BFA at St Rose. Will graduate 5/03!! That's the short version! I'm reasonably happy and have a very full life!

Leslie Howland-Bean - still deciding

This was a TOUGH ASSIGNMENT!!!! Do you ever wonder what we could be like if we had it all to do over again, knowing what we know now? I recall sitting in my guidance counselor's office with my parents trying to make a post high school plan. She asked, "Do you want to be a teacher or a nurse." I replied, nurse and that's how it all began. I wish I had said, "Architect!" After I graduated from college with my degree in nursing, I married my college love. We settled in Concord, NH and bought a wonderful old NE house. I worked in an ICU-CCU and we began the total restoration of the house, life was grand. Our daughters, Allison (1979) and Whitney (1983) were born. In 1989, I became a high school teacher which meant two more years of college and began my teaching career at Concord High. Eventually, I became a part-time teacher and school nurse. I realized that I loved being a nurse and in 1997 left Concord High to become the first school nurse at the newly built Bow High School. About this time we built the dream house that I designed. Life couldn't get any better!

Then mid-life hit! Another period of transition as a divorcee with an empty nest; Allison graduated from college and lives in San Diego working for a pharmaceutical lab and Whitney is in her second year at Clarkson University. I've given up my private piloting days and now leave the controls to the commercial pilots. I love to travel and have been to many exotic and unforgettable places around the world..... almost got stranded on a nude beach in Mykanos, Greece. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but once Whitney is done with her schooling I plan to try something different, somewhere else.

James F Hughto - Technical Writer & Training Specialist, NYS Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities

(from the Summer 2001 Saratoga County Living magazine)

"There’s no way I’d ever wear 18th century dress," James Hughto says as he recalls the day when he first became a volunteer at the Saratoga National Historical Park.

Standing proud in his Continental soldier’s uniform with newly purchase musket in hand, James remember the time that he brought his Cub Scout Pack for a day of hiking on the Wilkinson Trail, Because there weren’t enough rangers available to guide a tour, they gave James the information he needed and told him he could conduct it himself. He took up the offer and had fun in the process.

James later told the rangers about his successful hike and how he enjoyed talking to his pack about all the various facts along the way. The rangers were thrilled and asked him to become a volunteer. After careful consideration, James embarked on what he now calls "one of the more positive experiences of my life". Before he knew it, he was being fitted into period clothing.

What is described above is the beginning of my avocation as an historic interpreter at the Saratoga Battlefield. The events described occurred nearly eight years ago. Over that time I have conducted many tours and have provided interpretation for thousands of visitors to the park. In addition, I have done historic talks at schools and other sites in the Capital District."

I was born near Plattsburgh and have lived in various places along the Delaware and Hudson Railway Company’ right of way as I come from a family of railroaders. Nevertheless, I have spent most of my life in the Capital District. I am a graduate of Siena (76) and have been employed for over 20 years by NYS. I am married and have a fourteen year old son. I am considered by the National Park Service as one of their resident experts regarding Horatio Gates, weaponry, tactics and the battle that occurred Oct 7, 1777. I also have considerable knowledge and expertise regarding the Seven Years War (French and Indian War), the American Revolution, and the War of 1812.

Currently, I am in the process of establishing a small business devoted to providing guided tours to certain historic sites including the Saratoga National Historic Park.

Mary Chris Inglis-Brauchli - Research & Development, Consumer Products Div, Colgate-Palmolive

For the past 23 years, I’ve been Mary Chris Brauchli. I’m married to a great guy, Roger and live in Maplewood, NJ, the town he grew up in. We have 2 wonderful kids (most of the time): Lauren is 13 and Daniel is 9 (I was pregnant at the last reunion!! No instant replay!). I came to college in NJ, met Roger, got a job here right after college (BS in Chemistry) and have been here ever since. Finished an MBA while working and thankfully, no one asks me about ALL that I’ve forgotten. I’ve been with Colgate-Palmolive for 11 years, the first 15 for Shulton. The world has gotten much smaller. They work pretty hard at bringing their global world together via travel, employing a global workforce and international assignments. One of my best business trips was this past February to a conference in Orlando and I connected for a wonderful evening with Kris Baar Young. Lots of laughs.

I (try to) work part-time and I’m pretty involved in the kids and the community through church and school, teach CCD, girl scouts, PTA, soccer mom’pretty traditional and I must admit, pretty satisfying. A recent big-deal highlight for me was completing a week-long hike this summer through the Presidential range of the White Mountains, in NH with 14 other women. No family members, just a bunch of "like-minded women". What a challenge physically and mentally and what an accomplishment. We ranged in age from 40-55 and it was pretty awesome!!!

I’m looking forward to the reunion and seeing everyone again. I just hope that there are more names and faces I recognize than not!

Patty Irving - Semi-retired

I live in Hull, MA on the south shore. When I eventually settled after college, I worked at Children's Hospital for about 20 years. Then I went to the NYC area to do some consulting work in coagulation for Medical Laboratory Automation. Coagulation is blood clotting, or not clotting. It is a very interesting but obscure subject, which I really enjoyed. I am now semi-retired and really enjoying life on the beach.

William "Bill" John - NYS Trooper

After numerous speeding tickets, my dad suggested I take the exam for the NYS Troopers. It’s been 23 years since my last ticket. Married Jean Hervieux (class of 73) and she has given me three wonderful children: Katie 15, Christopher 10 and Greg 9. I can’t spend enough time with them. However, I recently spent several hours with Joe Milot, Tim Kane, Don Wallace, Jed Daly and Jeff Fay for some pre-reunion pints. The best stories and laughs were at Tim and Jeff’s expense!

Karen Jones - Reading Specialist, Corinth Central Schools

I’ve been in the education field for many years, currently serving as District Reading Coordinator for K-12 Academic Intervention Services, Commencement Coordinator, Student Senate Advisor at Corinth Central Schools (22 years). Prior to that, I was a reading specialist at Lyons Central Schools, and an elementary teacher at Guilderland Central. I am also a private contractor with NYS United Teachers Education and Learning Trust, providing professional development to teachers through in-service workshops and graduate courses. I enjoy traveling, especially if the destination is a sunny beach! I have been fortunate to visit Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia.

Tim Kane - Sales Consultant, Syncor

Married 24 years to Suzanne. We have two children, Nicole and Timothy II, both attending SUNY Oneonta. Employed by a radiopharmaceutical company. For the past 15 years, we’ve lived in the Latham area. Previously resided in Atlanta. We enjoy traveling, gardening and getting together with family and friends.

Wendy Katell-Hersh, BA, MA - music teacher/writer/performer

I got my BS at SUNY Oswego and my MA in music ed at St Rose. I taught music at Cohoes High for a few years. I even directed the school musicals. Lots of work.... I then spent 5 years touring the USA with various rock/top 40/show bands. No more shy stuff here, it was blond hair, fishnets and short black skirts and of course big hair! From the coffee houses of Shaker dining hall to the rock clubs and hotel circuit of America... After moving to LA in 1985 in time for some earthquakes, I continued playing the Hollywood club scene while working in a recording studio. I married in 1992 and had a son in 1995. So while most of the alumni were teaching their kids to drive, I was breastfeeding. My main career thing now is children’s music (no more smokey bars, now it’s runny noses...) My first CD of original children’s music was released last year. I teach piano, music classes in several preschools, write and record my kids songs and give concerts to kids all over the LA area. I'd love to hear from other alumni especially those in the LA area. Maybe we could have west coast reunion!

Lynn Kelly, PhD - Professor, University of Hartford

I attended SUNY Oneonta and graduated with a B.A. in Speech Education, qualifying me to teach speech and theater grades K-12. Went to Penn State to earn a Master’s degree and then taught high school (speech, drama and English) at St. Benedict Academy in Erie, PA. Then, I returned to Penn State to earn a doctorate in speech communication. Have been on the faculty at the University of Hartford since 1982 where I teach courses in interpersonal communication, computer-mediated communication and so forth. Have published books and articles on a number of communication topics, but one specialty area is shyness, particularly how to overcome it. While at Penn State I taught in a special program to help shy students, and have continued that work at the University of Hartford. I married in 1984, have a daughter (Megan 13), got divorced, and a few years later met and then married Kurt, and am having a great time. Have a step son, Jesse, who has two children, Briana (age 3) and Gavin (born 7/14/02) so I guess that makes me a grandmother! I love to exercise--have been taking ballet for 20 years, do jazzercise, roller blade, bike, and run.

Barbara Klein, DC - you name it, she’s done it!

WHO we are is too tough. I’ll stick with WHAT have we done. You’ll love this ‘what-do-I-want-to-be-when-I-grow-up" list. Relatively in chronological order: bank teller, school teacher (music and special education), substitute teacher, real estate agent, nightclub singer, mental health therapist, probation officer, physician, author, lecturer and political activist. The last four I remain active in.

I have 4 degrees, 1 ex-husband, and one I plan to keep forever. I have lived up and down the east coast and now in Scottsdale AZ where I may or may not stay forever. I have no kids and no real regrets ‘ yet (at least about the kids). I authored an 8-book set called 120 Years ‘ and Holding about longevity and wellness. My lectures are based on these (mostly natural health). I am very active in progressive politics and election system reform. I stay active with exercise, rollerblading, occasional raquetball, rowing and good old walking. I hate all ‘over the hill’ jokes, and still feel 16. Well, except when I hear music of ‘our’ day or watch ‘That 70's Show." OK, so I feel 26!

I am not rich, but I am patient. I am opinionated, and argumentative about everything I have an opinion about. I like gray, better than black and white. Most people find me humorous and everyone finds me annoyingly organized. But I am not organized enough to know what my next life segment will bring. Too many ideas, too few lives to live them. Oh, yea I also believe in reincarnation, so maybe I could plan now for the next time around.

Owen Kratz - Chairman & CEO, CalDive

First things first; the prison and rehab comment (on the message board) was a joke, but I can imagine some could find it plausible. I guess many of us come to a fork in the road as to which way our lives will take. I certainly wasn't a model character. I've had a few forks and following Yogi's advice I took each one until things straightened out. In looking back, it was all good and all fun and hopefully not too much collateral damage. 72-74 Hamilton College Politely suggested that I move on; 74-75 SUC Brockport ; 75-76 Leeds College, Leeds England BS degree double major in biology and chemistry. Sounds good, but it must have been an honorary degree, as I sure didn't earn it; 76-77 Kenya, Africa. I always wanted to be a game warden. It didn't work out as they nationalized the program and a white Rhodesian like me had little chance; 77 Started commercial diving in California with the big metal hat and suit with little perf holes; 78 Biologist for Woodward Clyde Consultants in San Diego. My only attempt to apply my degree. Fun work, but no money or future; 78-80 Saturation diver in the North Sea oilfields; 81-82 While diving in Mexico's Campeche Bay oilfields, I started my first oilfield diving company; 83 Went bust with the Mexican economy, sold what was left of the company and bought a 72-foot sail boat; 84 Sailing in South Pacific and Hawaii; 85-87 Diving, this time in the Gulf of Mexico oilfields.; 88 Took my first real job in an office estimating diving jobs for Cal Dive. Cal Dive had $8 million in revenue and lost $2 million a year. Pretty bad; 90 Sold my boat and bought Cal Dive with a lot of help from Merrill Lynch's money; 91 President of Cal Dive; 97 Became Chairman and CEO and took the company public.; 99 Met Cindy.; 01 Married her December 29, 2001; 02 Building the company. $800 million market cap and growing 20-30% a year. Looking ahead to my life with Cindy; A lot of exotic places, a lot of adventure, a lot of fun, a lot of hard times, a lot of luck!

Deborah LaCavera - see Bryan Daus

Arlene LaMarche - has yet to decide what she wants to be when she grows up

While most people have been thinking about retirement, I went back to school. I'm not majoring in anything yet, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. It's a bitch working full-time and going to school. I should have done it 30 years ago. The only kids I've had are Rocky (a Pomeranian) who is now forever 18, and Stinky, a big, fat, black cat, age unknown.

Mary Landor - Data Entry Operator, NYS Office for Aging

Mark Laske RN

After graduation, I moved to the Adirondacks and have been here ever since. I worked in restaurants, cooking for about 17 years and went back to school. Mid-life I became an EMT and now I'm an RN with 13 years of critical care experience. I live with my dog, Barney, in Inlet on the Fulton Chain in Hamilton County. Guess that's it...as Marty Silverman used to say DADADADA..Dat's all folks!

Bettina Lawton, Esq - Partner, Deschart

I read through a bunch of the postings and feel so young! I have no grandchildren-thank God since my sons are only 18 and 13. I can't figure out how some of us have children in their late 20s. ;-) After Siena, I moved to Washington, DC to attend Georgetown University Law Center. Much to my surprise, I became a securities and banking lawyer. I've spent 20+ years defending the fortunes and reputations of people and companies being investigated by the federal banking agencies or the Securities and Exchange Commission. I've been a partner at Dechert (an international law firm, as we like to say - 14 offices, 4 in Europe) for the last 13 years. I'm looking forward to leaving soon. Time for a change. Married twice. Single for the last 7 years. Raised my boys alone since 1990 with a brief 2 year hiatus for husband #2. My older son joined the Army last Fall to become a medic and reports for basic training July 31. He still has to graduate from high school! My younger son is pretty independent so I'm getting the "itch" to do something new. May go into politics again.

Lori Layet-Hill - retired

I have been in the Massachusetts area since 1973. I am married to Robert Hill from Troy, NY. I have 2 children, Jennifer and Jeffrey. I am a grandmother of a 16 month old girl, Imajin. I have done various secretarial work over the years, including Registrar's Office and Maintenance Offices of Providence College and most recently, Bryant College. I am currently retired due to medical conditions and I spend a lot of time enjoying my granddaughter. I love Marc Anthony and I will see him in concert for the third time this Summer.

Noreen Leonard-Inglis - Physical Education Teacher, Albany City Schools

I’ve been employed by the Albany City School District since 1976 and teach Phys Ed and Health in the High School and middle schools. I have coached varsity and other levels in all sporting areas. I have two daughters, Kate and Meghan, who are also sports maniacs! I’ve also coached in Voorheesville with many youth programs. I am an active road runner and enjoy any activity.

Leif LeLoup, BS - Designs and constructs commercial water features

I have been found, and I’ m glad for it. I’ve had the pleasure of viewing the website and somewhat reliving the good ole days. I remember most of the names, but need that yearbook close at hand for most of the faces. I went to the 10th, and had a great time, but missed the 20th.

After looking at the pictures from the 20th, all I can say is’God, some of you guys look old. I’ll try to make the 30th, but I’m old, gray and weathered looking so I’ll have a fake nametag on with big print for all you myopic alumni.

After graduating in 1976 with a BS in Biology (fresh water ecology), I left for Western Samoa and taught there for two years in the Peace Corps. Village life allowed me to become fluent in Samoan, so I stayed 6 months longer as a contract worker teaching the language and culture to new recruits (hence the ankle tattoo pounded in with sharpened pig’s teeth) (ouch). I then traveled for 8 months, mostly in New Zealand and Australia.

Three years in the tropics banished any ability to tolerate cold weather ever again, so I moved to San Diego in 1979. I worked as a biologist for the National Marine Fisheries Service aboard tuna boats for two years. This job allowed long breaks between voyages, so I did a lot more travel, including 6 months in Europe in 1980. I then got a job in 1982 with Global Marine, an exploratory offshore oil drilling company. I worked my way up to assistant sub-sea engineer (we try to prevent blowouts) when the rig relocated to the Gulf of Mexico in 1984. I gave my notice and took off for China and Southeast Asia for more travel. While in Thailand, I met a pretty young Danish girl named Hanne. Our itineraries were almost identical, so we decided to travel together. We’ve been together since the day we met, 18 years ago. After some hair-raising adventures in Malaysia and Indonesia, we decided we’d had enough and I introduced her to the USA.

In 1985, I decided to put my practical and educational backgrounds to work and started a business of lake and pond management and maintenance. Over the past 17 years, it has changed to design, construction, maintenance and repair of commercial water features. I got married (two 1972 alumni made it to my wedding in Denmark, Tod Gold & Carl Gardner), had a daughter in 1988, and a son in 1991. Hanne now is a CPA and has her MBA. Not bad for a girl that had a hard time understanding the English and plot at those early movies we went to.

Well, that was certainly more information than you ever wanted to know about me. I hope to hear from any classmates that care to write, and visitors are welcome, too. Hope to see you all there.

Sherry Lenz-Munafo - acquisitions/accountant, College of St Rose

I got married shortly after graduation and had 2 children. A lovely daughter who is planning her own wedding next June (2003) who is presently 28 years old; and a son who was just married (August 2003) and is 25. After a 10 year marriage we divorced. I am presently 17 years into my second marriage and am very happy. Which added a stepdaughter into my life who has just graduated from SUNY Albany.

I started working in Accounts Payable after high school, then transferred to the Neil Hellman Library and I’m now the Acquisitions/Accountant. I have worked at St Rose for the last 15 years. My husband Joe and I own a 2 family home in Cohoes where my mother and brother live in the first floor.

Mike Levy - owner, Kessler Professional Search

Graduated from Salem College in Salem WV in 1976. Married in June of 1981 to Tammy Bagley (class of 78). Worked for Cohoes Manufacturing from 77-85 then left to join Management Recruiters International as a headhunter. Been in the Executive Search Industry for 17 years and in July 2000 opened my own Search Firm - Kessler Professional Search. Launched in October 2001 a Dot Com called The Insurance Professional Network which is an extension of my search firm.

We have no children after 21 years of marriage which affords us the opportunity to do a lot of travel. Would trade the travel in for children any day of the week, but it isn't in the cards. I’m currently on the Board of The United Jewish Federation of Northeastern NY and sit on various committees. Was also a girl’s basketball coach, in the Capital District Youth Basketball League for the Town of Brunswick for the last two years.

John Liburdi, Jr - Foreman, Town of Colonie (Heritage Park)

Past president of NYS Turfgrass Assoc, and member of advisory board for SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Delhi, and Cornell U for turfgrass studies and horticulture programs. Also member and trouble shooter for the Sports Turf Managers Assoc, which is a group of professional head grounds managers which manage major league fields such as Yankee Stadium, Giants field, Foxboro, Shea Stadium etc.

I have my own company, KSM Athletic Field Service. We build, renovate old athletic fields, install and design irrigation and drainage systems. We also do consulting work with many engineering firms across the US. I travel all over the US teaching grounds maintenance and management. In 1986, I was voted the Best Grounds Manager in major and minor leagues, which was a national recognition. I have 5 kids, two from a previous marriage, and 3 from my current one. My wife, Pauline (Vogel - class of 84) and I live in Clifton Park. The kids are Kimberly 21, Shawn 16, Michelle 6, Jason 2, and my little one Casey 1, and that's it! I’m getting to old for more kids.

Lois Looman-DeLuca - Emergeny Medical Technician / CPR Coordinator

I still live in Latham with Dave, my husband of 26 years, We have four children: Jason, a Med student in Syracuse, Aaron a senior at Siena, Rick a sophmore at CBA , and Kaitlyn, a sixth grader at Boght Hills. After graduating from college, and five years as an assistant dietitian, I took the role of full time Mom. If life wasn't hectic enough, I added a few more things. I now have the four kids, four dogs and four places of employment! I hope to never see any of you while I'm at work, because I've been an EMT for ten years. I work in Colonie, Malta ,Clifton Park, and at the Pepsi Arena. I'm also the CPR Coordinator for the Town of Colonie. We are currently in the process of building a new house. Life is crazy, but fun. If I ever find a few spare moments, I enjoy reading, and try to work out to stay in shape.

Wanda Lubinski ABCDEFGH... you know the rest - System Support Aide NYS Office of Mental Health

You know the saying "Lucky at cards, unlucky at love?" I should move to Las Vegas and become a millionaire! Still fighting the good fight as a union leader, progressive Democrat, and community activist. I serve as President for CSEA Local 673 and recently raised money for leukemia by sliding into 1000 gallons of jello (you only live once, but I’ll never get the raspberry stains out of my undies)! Kissed enough frogs... still waiting for my prince! Enjoy cooking, politics, travel, photography and gardening. Still getting better, not older! From you favorite ‘chubby chick" - the Queen of the Prom for Life!

Peter "PeeWee" Lundberg - Groundskeeper, NYS Dept of Education

After graduation I went to Schenectady Community College, then tried odd jobs for about 3 years. Hit a low and was unemployed for three year, then got lucky and landed a state job. Of all places the NYS Dept of Education on Washington Ave (the old museum building across from the capital where as kids we went for tours!). I work in maintenance and hope to retire after 30 years of service in 2009. My goal is to move to Las Vegas, my second home. I’ve been there a few times. I just love the desert and it’s good for my health.

I still love Star Trek and yes I have all of it. Now the original on DVD and I’m getting the Next Generation as well. Before you ask, I also have Deep Space Nine and Star Trek Voyager and yes I have Enterprise. The 4th installment since the original. Still single and happy. Hope the rest of the class is well and healthy.

Sue Lynch-Riley - Contract Manager, Interconnection, Cingular Wireless

1st Decade: It's a blur...had a blast....I think! Graduated from Trinity College with a degree in Medical Technology. BSMTASCPBB....tooooo many letters to remember what they meant. Worked, traveled, partied. Lived in Saratoga, FL, and TX. Missed the10th reunion. 2nd Decade: Got married in 83. I actually waited until I was 28.....thinking this was the one and only! In June of 84 my life changed drastically! I found the true joy of my life. My son Shaun was born. Found new joy in 86...got divorced.....miss the dog....not the man. Left the medical field and entered sales (SBC). Best move I ever made! Learned to play golf.....still learning..... Made it to the 20th reunion. It was great seeing everyone.....who are we kidding....we just wanted to see how everyone else was holding up!

3rd Decade: Still miss the dog! Got remarried for the last time in 93....to an Albany boy (Cardinal McClusky)! Moved to Dallas in 97. Biggest mistake of my life...if you thought Troy was ugly! Had 2 starter trees in our yard. That really provides a lot of shade when it's 110! Figured if I was miserable ...my husband and child should be, too! It worked.....move to Atlanta in June 2000. Still with SBC. Our home is completely surrounded by dogwoods, pines and azaleas. Just like at the Masters...which I did get to go to! Shaun is graduating from high school! He’s off to N Georgia Military College on an Army ROTC Scholarship. What more could a mother ask for? He is then off to flight school to be trained to fly helicopters....not thrilled with that!

Jamie MacFarland BA - Director Human Services, Town of Glenville

Looking back at the high school years is quite the interesting exercise. A lot of my life since has been quite traditional. Got my BA at SUNYA in Geography, of which I've made little use since (although I can read a map with the best of them). Got married shortly after college to Denise, who has been a fine wife. Had a wonderful opportunity in 1978/79 to join and play volleyball with US Olympic team, doing some extensive traveling. That pretty much caps any athletic career, so since that time I enjoy playing the sport du jour, but more for fitness and fun than anything serious. After the VB thing, onward with family and career. Trevor is 22 and just finished SUNY Binghamton; Rachel is 18 and at Colgate. They're great kids, and I couldn't love them more. After a few years with the Schenectady YMCA (Physical/Program Dir), I went to Glenville and have been here 15 years. I administer senior citizens stuff, parks stuff, and a smattering of other odds and ends. I like it. It's rewarding in many ways. I'm currently experiencing a few regrettably predictable bumps in the road of life, but if you have your health you can pretty much put up with anything else. I've very much enjoyed reading about you and your lives. Like many, I wish I knew then what I know now. As I was 17 upon graduation, and a ‘young" 17 at that, I guess my high school days were comprised of classes, sports, and very little socializing. Too bad; I think I would have enjoyed getting to know more of you, as I've very much enjoyed our reunions. I look forward to seeing you youngsters in October.

Lucille Marion, EdS, PhD, VP & Exec Dir Capital Dist Educational Opportunity Ctr

Since graduating, I have to say that I’ve never really left school personally or professionally. I entered SUNY Albany in ‘72 to pursue a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. I stayed on for another two years earning a Masters Degree in Education and an Educational Specialist Certificate in Counseling and Student Personnel Services. After a seven year hiatus, I returned to the university in ‘85 and spent the next ten years earning a Ph.D in Educational Administration. With my formal education complete, my current learning experiences come from travel, reading and visits to museums and historical sites.

Over the years, I held various jobs in higher education at SUNY Plattsburgh, the University at Albany, Schenectady County Community College and Hudson Valley Community College. Currently I serve as VP of HVCC and Executive Director of the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center.

On the home front, I was married for ten years, divorced and now engaged to a 1968 graduate of Shaker. My marriage produced two tremendous children, Theresa (19), a graduate of Shaker who is now in college, and Nicole (15), a freshman at Shaker. So it appears, that not only have I never left school, with two children in the N Colonie School system, I’ve never left Shaker!

Gina Maybury, Esq - teacher

I was among the group who went off to Union after graduating from Shaker. I have a BS in Psychology from Union, an MLS from SUNYA School of Library & Info Science, & a JD from Albany Law. I've been married to John Sylvester (class of '72 at Nisky) since 1978. He is an attorney and a Colonel in the Army Reserve, so we've lived in 11 places in those 24 years, including Alaska and West Point. This is our third time living in VA, but the first in suburban DC. I teach science enrichment at the elementary level part-time, and am mom to our 10 year old daughter, Jillian.

Denis Meade - professional musician (surprise!)

I finished my last year of high school away from Shaker due to a fight with the music teacher Cimino. He didn’t like long hair!!! I finished school where my Dad taught music at Waterford- Halfmoon which was great!!! Only took 5 classes and spent the rest of my time drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes and helping him with lessons. Went to Berklee college of music and toured the northeast with a rock band that tried to make it big and got close. Moved to Vermont then New Hampshire while playing with different bands, never gave that up!!! Married and had 2 children, while going to another college for music ed. Had to give that up due to trying to support my family and moved back to the area. I've always been a musician and worked very hard at it but supporting a family is first. So....I drove school-bus and played in bands part-time. Landed a job playing full-time again and that lasted for 7 years playing 6 nights a week!!! I always had a great time playing believe me!!! Started my own business in paper recycling ut moving all of that weight killed me. Kicking, pushing, lifting over 25 tons a week pretty much by myself ripped me apart!!! So that went down the toilet but it proved to be a very valuable experience. I played in country-rock bands from time to time. I always did something musically to keep money coming in!! Landed a warehouse job and rose to a managerial position. Had to pack it in for now because I have lung-cancer. I'm on chemo and radiation. Lots of fun!! I've had a great time though with 2 beautiful children and a host of memories being in the music field and being on the wild side throughout my entire life!! So I'm grateful!!

Paul Mignola-McGrath - pharmacy tech

Very happily married to a wonderful man who gave me two beautiful daughters, Paula 17 who is ready to enter the Air Force, and Elizabeth 12. I’m a busy mom, work full time and enjoy my Avon business on the side. Our family photo is on the web, though that one is a bit dated. Sorry I can’t make it to the reunion.

Joe Milot - Owner, Protective Industrial Products

I feel fortunate to have been able to stay in touch with a number of Shaker alums over the years. Truly, my best friends and some of my fondest memories were at Shaker.

Life has been good to me. I have had 23 great married years with my wife Colleen (Grady ‘74). Anyone that knows Colleen realizes how blessed I am and how tough she has had it in dealing with me. Never said I was easy!

We have two wonderful kids. Bridget, 22, has just started Albany Law School this year. Look out world! Our son, Joey, is 20, a junior at Holy Cross and is loved instantly by all that meet him. Look out ladies!

I have spent the last 18 years building my own business, Protective Industrial Products, in that exciting high tech field of Work Gloves. We’re not the largest supplier of gloves in the country yet, but we are closing in on it. We have sales and distribution in California, Tennessee and Mexico. I have a wonderful partner in Hong Kong. He and his family have become very close to ours over the years and I feel very fortunate to have had the experience of traveling all over the world building our business together. We started a fashion denim jeans business last year and opened an office in NYC. It’s been an eye opening adventure and has made all the gray hair turn white. This summer we spent a lot of time on our boat on Lake George just relaxing.

Sharon Mitola-Hodges - Public Health Nurse Educator

I feel as though I have never really left N Colonie Schools because both my children attended Loudonville Elementary, Shaker Jr. High and graduated from Shaker High School. I have been married this past June for 25 years to my best friend Don Hodges (class of '71). Our greatest accomplishments are without a doubt our two wonderful children!!! Our son Ryan graduated this past May from Cornell - Magna Cum Laude (if I may brag just a bit) and we recently helped him to move to his new apartment in Manhattan where he has accepted a position with Credit Suisse First Boston as an Investment Banking Analyst. Our daughter Lauryn is 20 and studying to be a Forensic Scientist. Until recently, Don and I owned the Chatham penny Candy Store in Chatham, MA on the cape and spent our summers there with all the crazy tourists. We sold the business and the home we owned there and are enjoying relaxing summers back in Loudonville. The kids had to go and grow up on us with other things to do on their summer vacations like internships in NYC etc. and it was no longer any fun without them there. (how dare they get lives of their own!!!!!) During the off season I spent my time as a Public Health Nurse Educator with the Albany County Dept of Health working on a per diem basis which worked out great for me as I was raising my family and could always be there for them when needed.

Dr Jan Mooney - Psychologist

After a decade of wild life in NYC, doing theater, traveling, paralegal work and working at Covenant House, I turned serious about my future with rewarding results. Family comes first. My husband is a musician with the NYC Opera and NYC Ballet, and you can find me roller blading and playing tennis every summer in Saratoga, while Steve works hard in "the pit." I have two great kids who are both taller than I am, although their collective age is only slightly more than half my own. They both inherited their father’s musical genes and I enjoy seeing them in various musical productions in our hometown in NJ and in NY. Between my kids’ baseball and lacrosse practice, I manage to eke out my own living as a psychologist at a neat school in NYC. My work involves counseling parents, advising teachers and hanging out with kids in their classrooms and on our rooftop playground. Extracurricular activities include anti-racist work at church and at work, gardening, and singing in my church choir.

Tony Morra - Officiating at Sports Events

I’ve been assisting my father in his dental practice and officiating high school sports (soccer, basketball, lacrosse) since leaving my liquor store after 17 years. I’ve been married to Audrey for 24 years. She’s an analytical chemist at Regeneron. We have two sons, Nicholas who is attending Buffalo Dental School after graduating from Villanova, and Nathaniel who is going to graduate from Shaker this year and is looking forward to attending Siena for Accounting next fall.

Helayne Murray-Wright - Community Care Physicians

My husband and I have been married since 1974 and live in Cohoes. We have 4 children ranging in age from 17 to 27, and a 6 year old granddaughter! Kevin is the senior manager of research and planning for MTV, Kristin sells business machines & software for ComDoc, Matthew is in shipping & distribution for Community Care Physicians, and Melissa is a junior at Cohoes High. I owned and operated a day care business for 20 years and am currently working for the Internal Medicine doctors at CCP in Latham.

Pam Nolett-Lawrence - Program Manager, US Army

I live in Guilderland with my wonderful husband, Tom. We have three grown children who have all finally graduated from college. I work for the US Army as a Soldier and Family Assistance Program Manager. I counsel recruiters and their families in the 5 surrounding states. It requires travel 7 weeks a year and it is a very challenging job. My husband and I enjoy our friends, cross-country skiing and keep very busy with our families.

Sue Novak - Secretary, NYS Office of Mental Health

After graduating from Shaker, I attended Maria College majoring in the medical secretarial field, then entered state service. I am divorced and raising one son in our newly purchased house in Niskayuna. My life has been one adventure after another and never a dull moment. God is good!

My love for cats has led me to become a breeder of Persians/Himalayans. I also love all kinds of music and attending concerts and theater, travel, dining out, gardening, baking and cooking, museums, fishing, boating, bicycling, golf, bowling, swimming, dancing and last but not least, witnessing my love for Jesus and making new friendships over the internet.

Gary Palmer - Sr Banking Analyst, Federal Reserve SF

Well, in the last 30 years’ OK, I’ll skip to more current events. I’m three-times fortunate: I live in San Francisco, a beautiful city; despite the tech-sector collapse, I remain employed at a job I truly enjoy; and I recently married (2nd time) an exceptionally special person with whom every day is a joy. Teresita and I had a Hawaiian-style wedding with everyone wearing Hawaiian attire and leis, lots of tiki torches, hula dancers, and whole roast pig (I insisted the pig’s eyes be covered with sunglasses).

I've been in the San Francisco Bay area since the late 1980s after baking for a couple years in Tucson. Was told that the Fed is a great place to get experience before getting a "real job". I'm still building my resume! I've moved around a bit, including several years managing a sizeable IT function, but my current job is the best. About half my time includes following commercial real estate market conditions & related lending risks -- an interesting area over the past year.

In addition to spending as much time as possible with my beautiful bride, I enjoy tennis, golf and bicycling (recently joined over a thousand others on a 50-mile bike ride -- nearly died the last 5 miles against the wind). Pole vaulting days are long over, as are other similar athletic endeavors in which injury is a distinct possibility! I'm also among the few who admit to being a Golden State Warriors season ticket holder -- forever the optimist! Also enjoy travel -- Vienna (work!), Aruba & Hawaii in the past year, and of course the annual pilgrimage to Las Vegas to see if the gambling gods will smile on us..

Lori Peter-Relyea - retail sales, JC Penney

I'm still here in Latham, and have been married for 28 years. I have 2 great kids, a daughter who is 22 and a son 19. They are both graduates of Shaker and now attending college. I worked part-time when the kids were in school at my family’s business Engel’s Farm & Market. Now that they are grown, I have taken a full time job selling shoes at JC Penneys in Crossgates and I love every minute of it. I’m still best friends with Connie Willey and we have had many adventures over the years. I enjoy walking, counted cross-stitching, sewing and singing in my church choir, visiting with my friends and just being a mom.

Gerald "Gee Gee" Pettograsso - Youth Pastor

To all my classmates Happy 30th! Debi (Looman) and I will be celebrating our 25th in May. Who said it wouldn't last? We have three daughters Jamie 21, Bailee 17, Jenna 11. We both are in ministry now. Working at our church which will be moving to Latham from Colonie. It's a Non-denom church, all are welcome. It's 9 yrs old and we have about 1200 people attending 3 services each week. Debi is co-coordinator of the children's ministry (Sunday School). I'm the youth Pastor, in charge of 175 6th-12th graders. WOW!

Dr. Tom Phelan - Biblical Chaplain Ministry, Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility

Dr. Phelan provides special evangelistic meetings to inmates, to be featured on Discovery Channel’s "On the Inside" program. The chaplain must be familiar with prison "culture" (language, dress, and ways of doing things), provides pastoral care (visits, counseling, providing donated items) and deals with spiritual needs, helps coordinate special volunteer music programs and seminars. In addition, Tom serves as a military chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) for the US Army Reserve 331st Medical Group of Wichita. Tom studied classic guitar and in addition to writing music he has performed as tenor soloist for Handel’s Messiah in several different states. Tom has four degrees (three in graduate studies). In 1974 Tom met Ora Lee Jones and within a year they were married. In 1976 Tom completed his B.A (summa cum laude) in Biblical Studies. He completed a master’s degree in Church Administration and in 1982 a Ph.D. in Old Testament Text. In 2002 Tom and his wife celebrate their 27th anniversary, with seven children and four grandchildren. Two of the family’s greatest tests of faith took place when their son Daniel nearly died in 1994 and in 1999 when their teenage son Michael passed away.

In order to supplement a modest church salary he became a chaplain in the US Army Reserve, and later served on active duty. Upon returning to civilian life, he pursued training in the University of Kansas School of Nursing and served as a hospital chaplain prior to his clinical chaplain ministry. To enhance his ministry, he completed an additional accredited graduate degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. His ministries have been demanding and rewarding. He is considering authoring a book in this field.

Dana Quackenbush-Vachon - Teacher

I am married to Fran Vachon (almost 24 years!) who is a Family Practice physician with Capital Care here in Guilderland. I teach second grade at Lynnwood School in Guilderland. We have three sons. Marc is 21 and a senior at St. Bonaventure University (studying to be a Physical Education teacher), Cary is 18 and a freshman at Syracuse University (studying Pre Med), and Scot is a tenth grader at The Albany Academy. Life is very busy, but lots of fun. I haven't kept in close contact with any of my fellow graduates over the years and would have loved to run into some of them at the reunion. Your committee has done a great job...thanks so much for that.

Pamela Roff-Goode - home business making aromatherapy products A

fter graduating, I moved to Boston and went to Wheaton. I got a degree in Early Childhood Education and was a pre-school teacher for 4 years. I took a break and came to California for the summer, but ended up staying! I love it here, warm, almost always sunny, not much rain, and all in all a great place to live. I was married for 9 years, divorced, re-married now 10 years and have 4 children, ages 16, 15, 14 and 9. Three girls and a boy. I now make Aroma-therapy items - massage oils, bath salts, lip balms, etc. Anyway, that is my life story for the past 30 years (that makes us all sound so old). All is well after struggling for so long. Hope to see everyone soon.

Jeannine Rosecrans-Hampton RN

I have had wonderful opportunities and continue to seek new adventures. I completed my associate degree in nursing at Morrissville Ag & Tech in 1974 and worked at Albany Med for 3 years before marrying John. He was in the Navy at the time, so we moved to Connecticut for 2 years, then San Diego via Chicago. When John got out of the Navy we were on our way to New Orleans. I completed my BSN at Loyola in 1987. Family obligations and situations had us looking to relocate up north, so we returned to Norwich CT. I am completing the requirements for my MSN-APRN (Nurse Practitioner); all I have left is the thesis. I love to ski, camp, walk and I’m taking up golf. I have three children; Katie 20 who is a junior art Russell Sage, Nicholas 18 going for a business degree locally and Ashley 12.

Bonnie-Jo Ruscetta-Westendorf

My husband of 25 years, Neal, and I met at Plattsburgh during freshman year and have had a great time together ever since. We have two beautiful children, Aaron, 23, is an RPI graduate and living and working in Houston, Texas with his fiance. He'll be getting married next June ‘ hard to believe. He is a computer programmer, working with a company that does a great deal of work with NASA and making more money than I ever imagined making at that age! They actually live across the road from NASA. We visited in February and had a great time. Caitlyn, 16, is a junior at Taconic Hills where her dad is a Math teacher. She is a high spirited, beautiful, smart girl who keeps us very busy, therefore we are always tired. It really wasn't our idea to have 8 years between kids, but that's how it all played out. She is an honor student, cheerleader, dancer, runs track, plays softball, works, and is so darn cute. Just started driving a few weeks ago!!! She is looking to pursue a career in physical therapy, which I am thrilled about because then she can take care of my aching bones!

As for me, I have had a wonderful time being a mom to my kids and partner to Neal. And in my spare time I have had a 22 year career with Cornell Cooperative Extension in Columbia County. I am a parent educator, child care trainer, and Assistant Executive Director. I absolutely love my job but will be ready to retire in 6 years. Then I will move on to do something else. I really like quilting and am thinking of pursuing something in that area for my next life. Cheers!

Jo Anne Schepis - Private Investigator

Started out wanting to go to med school, though I always wanted to be a doctor and specialize in OB/Gyn. Well, I met a grad from West Point, who was 10 yrs my senior, had his own company and was doing well. Stayed with him 12 yrs on paper and 3 kids later. Love the kids, they were the best thing I got out of that marriage. I have raised 3 children on my own for the past 20 yrs and managed to educate myself very well. I have an associates degree in law. I have been an investigator for 17 yrs for a company in Long Island, and do per-diem work with NYS. I hold a degree as a paralegal. I was cheated out of my bachelor's degree (I will leave the name of the school out) because they change the course the end of my 3rd semester. I’m a certified NYS domestic violence/rape crisis counselor. I have educated 2 of my 3 children, and my 3rd is about to start college in the fall. So, all in all I've done very well for myself and family. I'm considering going back to college for my master's in marine biology. I need to change careers. The stress and the people are killing me; but, I still owe on student loans and my children keep telling me that the love me no matter what I decide to do. I plan to retire in 10 yrs to Maine and own my own B&B by the ocean (enjoy scuba diving). I love to travel and with the B&B I will meet many and in the winter months I will travel. Oh, yes, my daughter married and I recently was blessed with my first granddaughter!

Nancy Schmidt-Barron, RN - Stratton VA

Married since 1979. Registered operating room nurse. Son, Sean is freshman at Siena (a Shaker grad). My favorites are the ocean, sun and surf. Also enjoy gardening, working outdoors, HGTV, crafts, travel and shopping.

Ray Serafin - General Manager, Sheraton Pasadena

After attending SUNY New Paltz and then SUNY Albany, I worked and played around Latham, emphasis on played, until 1979. In January of 1980 I headed to California with no particular agenda. Once here, I realized this is where I wanted to be. The weather, culture, entertainment, mountains and beaches and much more have kept me here 22 years. Shortly after arriving I discovered a career I really enjoyed and developed the skills to do very well. I have held management positions at Hotels in LA, Santa Barbara, Lake Arrowhead and Pasadena. I truly enjoy my work and the many perks that come from being involved in the Hospitality Industry.

I married a Shen alumni (the hated Plainsmen), Karen Schecter Class of ‘76 in 1983. We had met in New York. We have three wonderful children, Spencer 12, Olivia 8, Sophia 4. Needless to say, career and a young family take most of my time. When not involved with those activities I enjoy attending professional Sporting events, Dodgers, Lakers, Kings. One of the perks in Pasadena is the Rose Bowl game and parade and UCLA Football. To fight off the inevitable aging process, I help coach my kids baseball and soccer teams, play golf, (but not often enough), go to the beach, bike ride, swim etc.

Marty Silverman - between successes

Here’s the 30 second summary of the last 30 years (Oh my God, I just got the chills thinking that 30 years have passed!). After college (Union) and some grad school (Buffalo), I moved back to Albany. I started as a pharmaceutical rep in 1978 and have been involved in the drug industry ever since. Got my MBA from RPI (I majored in Acronyms) while working for Schering-Plough and then accepted a promotion that moved me to the Boston area, where I met my future (and current and only) wife, Trudy. In 1987, I ruined her life by marrying her and forcing her to move to New Jersey against her will. We have a terrific 11 year old who thinks she is 22 and headed for a career on Broadway! Since we live in the pharmaceutical capital of the world, I have sampled as many companies as I could, having now worked for 6 in the past 12 years (obviously can't keep a job!). I'm consulting for a start-up pharmaceutical company in Edison, NJ and expect to be on company #7 soon.

Sandy Switzer-Kuebler - Consultant Nurse, NYS Dept of Health

It seems like a million years since I have been at SHS! I was so intrigued reading about the adventures and mis-adventures of some of my classmates. My life has been moderately dull in comparison but I have no regrets. I married my high school sweetheart, Dick Kuebler (class of '70) and we’ll celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary this December! That's not to say we haven't had our ups and downs, but we have defied statistics and have experienced mostly ups. It's difficult to talk about my life without talking about 'our' life because 'I 'was 'we' since age 15! It's amazing that I’m not suffering from an identity crisis! We were married while I was a sophomore at Sage (age 19) pursuing my bachelors in nursing. (No I wasn't pregnant!) That's what my mother thought and she cried for hours telling me that I would never finish my degree! Just to spite her, I did. In 1976 Dick and I moved to Glens Falls where Dick bought a small swimming pool/spa company and I worked as a Public Health Nurse for Warren County. We lived there for a number of years and enjoyed the Adirondacks, bought our first house and had our two daughters in 1978 and 1982. Although Dick worked many hours managing his business without much profit we had a wonderful, calm and serene life. We ride bikes, cross country ski, hike and put a lot of time and energy into parenting. I look back on those years with wonderful memories and gratefulness for having had the opportunity to experience them.

Finally, realizing that the business wasn't going to pay for college, we decided to return to the capital district to earn the "big" money (it is 'big' compared to Warren Co). We bought a home in Niskayuna and began a true suburban lifestyle. Yes, I am a civil servant, but am happy to say will receive a pension at age 55 (NOT TOO FAR AWAY FOLKS) with great benefits. Dick has been a long term employee of WorldCom. Yes, WorldCom. He had a number of really successful years there, but I am not saying another word about that! While not at work, we have taken up golf. Dick was hoping to be on the senior tour but it still looks to be a few years away. As for my golf, I have the maximum handicap and am the shame of the Mohawk Club Women's twilight league. Oh well. Some of us got it, and some of us don't!

Although we never lived far from our roots, we have enjoyed many trips to the Caribbean and Europe. Our favorite island is St. John where we snorkel on deserted beaches for hours. However, now our vacations are spoken for. Duty calls and takes us to visit both of our daughters who reside in California. Jennifer lives in Manhattan Beach and is pursuing her MBA from Pepperdine. Kelle lives in San Diego where she will be graduating from the University of San Diego in May. She is pursuing law school admission in September 2003. We are very proud of both of them. They are beautiful, intelligent and have hearts of gold. Spoken like a true mother!

John Tersigni - AFCM, US Navy retired

Since August of '72 I've been serving in the worlds greatest Navy, in fact as of Sept. 1 of this year I'll be retired with thirty years. Made several overseas deployments on-board aircraft carriers and one as a Flight Engineer. Favorite ports are anywhere in Australia and the small island or Rhodes, Greece. It's been a great life, although hard on the family, and has brought me to many different places, all of which made me grateful to return to our shores. I am currently living in Virginia Beach, where I enjoy an occasional round of golf, hunting, fishing and carpentry for relaxation. Married Andrea Cary (now separated) and have 2 great sons. Josh (18) who graduates next week and hasn't a clue what he wants to do with the rest of his life and Nick (15) who is just starting to think about the rest of his life.

Susan Tezbir-Mackay - Homemaker and Mom

On November 27, 1976 I married Mike at St. Ambrose Church. For the first three years we moved back and forth between Warrensburg, MO and Ames IA. Mike was in graduate school at Central Missouri State University and Iowa State University. At the end of that time we moved back to the Northeast. In 1982 we purchased our home in Menands and have lived there since. After moving, I went to work for Key Brokerage for 4 years and then went to work for Bender Medical Laboratory until 1996. During this time we enjoyed traveling and enjoying life, but we realized that something was missing. In 1996 Mike and I traveled to Santiago to complete the adoption of our daughter, Elizabeth. She is now seven years old and is in second grade at Menands School. I am very active at Elizabeth’s school as the School Banking program coordinator and will serve as the Treasurer of the PTA. I also spend time caring for my parents.

My husband is VP of Hudson River Bank & Trust and has been in the field for 20 years. He also serves on the Menands School Board.

Mark Thibeault - Skills Coordinator, Center for the Disabled

I currently work for a Day-Hab in Schenectady. I retired from the Army in 1995 at the rank of Major and live in Latham with my wife Judy and three daughters.

Deb Thibodeau-Prescott - floral designer/retail sales

Married in 1973 to the guy I dated through high school. I was a stay-at-home wife and mother for many years. In 1975 I attended Spencer Business Institute. Today I am the mother of four. Eric, my achiever, Jeffery, my musician, Faith, my artist, and Grace, my sweetheart. I am also the Grandmother of Jacob, Ethan, and Jonathan Blue. Oh, and there is one more on the way. I stayed busy with my family life, was very active at school and church; however I was bored by cooking and laundry. I was a Practical Arts Major in high school so I always had an interest in design. I put them together and designed and made wedding gowns while we raised the kids. I also learned to decorate with flowers. I taught art at the private school my children attended. I also learned to paint and I'll paint just about anything, except for the cat or the kids! The last 30 years {OUCH} 30? have been crazy; but there isn't much I would change. Staying home with my family was tough in many ways, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss any of it and I am thankful that I was able to be here. Now, with the kids on their own, I plan to open my own business.

Bill Thompson - Maintenance Operations, NYS Senate

I graduated from Hudson Valley CC and worked for Sears for a number of years. When my wife, Lianne, graduated from Shaker in 1976 we moved to NYC where she went to college. We lived there for two years, then lived in the LA area. We returned to the capital district and I worked for Curtis Lumber for many years. We bought property in E Poestenkill and began the process of building our own log cabin. Yes, we built it ourselves! During this time, I worked in roofing. Lianne is a teacher with the Averill Park schools. Our daughter, Krista, is 23 and has a 2 year old son, Elijah. Our son, Justin, is 21 and is also in construction. We celebrated our 25th anniversary this past August. I’m happy to say that I still go fishing almost every day and I play softball in the summer.

Deb VanDenburgh-Boswell - Dir Program Operations, Big Brothers Big Sisters

Bob (Shaker’73) and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary in May of this year. I am currently finishing my masters in Ed Psych at SUNYA and I’m a member of the Board of Directors for Capital District Child Care Coordinating Council. Bob is a partner with the educational technology-consulting firm, Connected Learning Associates. Unfortunately, most of his time is spent working with the NYC Board of Education. Our local schools still seem to be dragging their feet into the age of technology. Our oldest son, Rob Jr. (Shaker ‘99) is a student at SUNY and works for the YMCA at the Empire State Plaza. Our Youngest son, West is a sophomore at Shaker and is a technology wizard. In ‘94 we became guardians for a young boy who had visited us for 8 summers through the Fresh Air Fund. Adriel Linyear (Shaker ‘97) did a semester at Air Force Academy, graduated from Lafayette College and works for St. Rose as the Assistant Director of Admissions. As a hobby, he also plays football for the Albany Conquest (arena football).

Janet Wagoner-Belkay - Secretary/Receptionist

The last 30 years I’ve been working full time and being a housewife and mom Was married in 78 to a great Brooklyn guy he was a bridge builder he got sick and I lost him after 4 great years of marriage. I have a son Joe who is a senior this year at Lansingburgh High. I remarried in 91 to another Brooklyn guy (something about those Brooklyn boys). My husband, Al, was an over the road truck driver. In 96 he suffered a stroke the doctors said he would not gain use but he fooled them and drove again after a 4 year leave. This past July he suffered a heart attack and is doing well but his driving days are over . For six years I worked at the Albany Yacht Club 83-89. That was an experience, meeting lots of different kinds of people and seeing all those big yachts. Had a job offer to sell and work the big boats out of Ft. Lauderdale, but my son was young and did not make the move so I stayed in the area and still live in N Troy. I worked part time for a doctor's office, then went full time and have been working every day since. I now work for a fuel oil company, been in this business for 14 years. Have a dog and a cat who are more like children than pets.

Robert Walsh - business owner

The past 30 years seem to have passed rather quickly. I’ve been married to Rosemary since 1980. We have lived in Guilderland since 1982 and have four wonderful daughters - Kelly, Jennifer, Allison and Sydney, that range in age from 13-8. They are all competitive swimmers, so transporting them to practice and meets seem to occupy most of our time. An occasional round of golf is a welcome diversion!

I own an Industrial Sales and Design firm that specializes in Ventilation and Air Pollution Control equipment, with a partner in Syracuse. Looking forward to seeing everyone in October!

John Waltersdorph - Market Strategist & Portfolio Manager

I’ve remained local since college. After 22 years of banking, it either bettered me or vice versa. I have an internet product brokerage business. That and the new job are welcome changes. Maybe someday I’ll get married. First, I have to break away from family dinner invitations. They’re all local. It’s those nieces and nephews. How can you resist them? Life is good.

Anne Watkinson-Visconti - hairstylist

I’ve been living in LA since 82. My husband, Leonard Visconti, is a tower crane operator. We live in a small house with two boys, Wylie 13, Emmit 11. I style hair for production, which means I do hair for TV and commercials. For 5 years I volunteered and taught art in elem school. I really have been full-time mom, part-time hair stylist for 13 years. I love to tell stories about Albany and love to hear from my mom and dad. I miss it always, have great memories of Shaker. I hardly use the computer, was into art, so that’s what I still like. And Springsteen, still love Bruce. Emmit is a drummer and Wylie plays guitar. I’m always playing my music loud and singing drives the kids crazy. I really appreciate the website. It is important to remember. I’m thankful for people like you and for all the work. Have a great time, alum.

Catherine Wedekind-Wright - Loan Officer, State Employees’ Credit Union

I am still married to fellow Penn State Graduate Ken. We have two daughters. Heather is a freshman at NC State and Cameron is a junior at UNC. We have moved around a lot and have finally settled near Charlotte. Believe it or not, I miss the cold and snow! I am a loan officer at the State Employees’ Credit Union and loving it! In my spare time I like to travel.

I’m married to Shaker 71 grad, Ed Snyder. I’m a nurse at Albany County Nursing Home and we have 3 wonderful children. We love to travel and would like to see a little in each state. I also enjoy craft fairs, reading and ceramics.

Connie Willey-Bathrick - Nursing Assistant, Albany County Nursing Home

Still single since the last reunion. Two children who I don’t think will ever move out. This September I will be a grandma for the first time. I’ve been working as a nursing assistant for 12 years at the Albany County Nursing Home. In my spare time I care for my 94 year old granny, seven days a week. I really enjoy my friends and try to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. I’m struggling each day with rheumatoid arthritis and learning to treasure every day.

Barbara Wermert, BA - preparing to re-enter the job market after an early retirement

Graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1976 from Duke University with a BA and distinction in Economics. Returned to Latham for one final fling as Head Lifeguard at the Colonie Town Pool. Worked as a Management Trainee for Montgomery Ward to pay off college loans and rebuild savings and then took the first of SEVERAL "breaks". Played in Durham and Atlanta for several months before joining General Foods as a Sales Rep in Birmingham. Hated Birmingham, so I worked like a maniac and was promoted in 11 months to Miami as an Account Manager. Liked it there a LOT, so stayed put for a couple of years until the company figured out I was settling in (I had been branded as a fast-tracker so "settling in" is NOT a good thing) and promoted me to Sales Manager in Richmond. I was one of the first five women ever promoted to that level in the company. Two years later I was promoted to a much larger management assignment (Food Lion) in Charlotte. Shortly thereafter, Phillip Morris bought the company and the resulting transition turmoil generated unavoidable distractions. Fortunately Kraft recruited me for their headquarters in Philadelphia and I was thrilled to accept their offer to begin a new career north of the Mason-Dixon line! As National Accounts and Military Sales Manager, life was great! I willingly participated in all new flavor taste tests (Breyer’s and Sealtest Ice Cream were the dominant brands) and traveled nationwide making business presentations. It was easy to sell the company on my including a long weekend stay in a major city after a presentation; they enjoyed the cost-savings of a weekend airfare and I was able to explore most of the country with minimal expense! Unfortunately, Kraft also decided it was time to be progressive and put a female manager out in the "field", so after a year and a half of big city bliss, I was "promoted" to Syracuse as the first ever female sales manager. Philip Morris then bought out Kraft (deja-vu), job security turmoil returned and I was annoyed with the pattern. After I completed a major overhaul of the Syracuse sales force and marketing tactics (business trips to Buffalo and Rochester just didn’t compare to San Francisco and Phoenix), I retired from my 11 year stint in Corporate America, sold my house and furniture and began a six-month camping tour of the States and Canada with a side trip to Hawaii. Having happily survived the San Francisco earthquake of ‘89, I returned to Latham and received a call from an old friend who wanted me to work as an in-house marketing and sales consultant for an Australian lawn and garden products company located in Orlando. What was to have been a six-month commitment became a year and a half with the Gale Group including plenty of travel. Business practices that had brought the company success in their homeland were NOT effective here and I jumped the sinking ship. After another cross country road trip with a side junket to Japan and Hong Kong, I returned to Orlando to begin a new career as a realtor (figured that surviving 7 moves in 11 years was sufficient background). Success came quickly, but along with it came a complete elimination of personal time and burnout finally hit. The all work and no play lifestyle left no time for spending and I was able to retire in November of 1999. For the past three years (my longest break ever) my efforts to figure out what my next adventure will be failed to bring inspiration until recently. I am currently planning a move to the DC/Annapolis area’ eager to: enjoy four seasons and breathable air; have access to big city life and long time friends; and open up a whole new world of experiences which will (hopefully) hold my attention for a while! My recent "contributions" to the stock market have inspired me to reconsider the advantages of being gainfully employed and I am hoping to join up with a high energy, non-profit. While I have been lucky to find success in many different careers, I have yet to master the art of dating so there is no need for sympathy for mates or offspring that were subjected to all this motion’ and I continue to travel light! Sorry to miss the 30th. Enjoy!

Patti Zampier - Office Manager

Hello all you ghosts of my past! It has been a very long time since I was bouncing down the halls of Shaker. I am really glad that we are having a 30 year reunion. I was at the 20th but only in body as I was having a really tough time then. My marriage was falling apart and it was difficult for me to put on a happy face and give the impression that I had my act together.

I have since become unmarried and am finally INDEPENDENT and VERY HAPPY. I live in Oceanside, and once my three kids are on their own will probably move back up Shaker way. My family (except the folks who migrated to Florida) are still all up there.

Alison (22) graduated from Binghamton last year and lives with me. She is working as an Administrative Assistant for a Law Firm and considering Law School, even though her major was Psychology (I suppose you have to have some insight to craziness to even consider being an attorney). Rich (21) is a Junior at Colgate with a 3.75 and a double major of math and computers (yeah, okay a geek..but a damn good looking one with a heart of gold and very athletic). He will be interning at Solomon Smith Barney in Manhattan this summer making more money in 10 weeks than I make in a year. I figure it's good for me. He already knows I am moving in when he gets married. (kidding SO KIDDING). Elisa, my baby, at 19 is a Sophomore at the University of Delaware majoring in English and Journalism. She is the actress, the rebel, the crazy one, the writer...OMG..she is me....I just hope she gets to pursue her dreams and doesn't marry the first guy who turns her head and opens the car door for her like her mother did. (what can I say, the car door opening SO impressed me). Now me.....I was a stay at home mom doing the PTA, religion, soccer coach thing so when I got divorced I was in a bit of a pickle. Never finished the degree...never went after the career. I LOVED being a mom (still do) and believe it or not it was the BEST THING I EVER DID (had I married a nicer guy I might have had a dozen kids) I ended up finding a job as an Office Manager for a Dermatologist. The Dr. can't live without me so I earn a decent living, am appreciated daily AND it is truly a stress-free job (how many of you can say that?) Of course, I shop at K-Mart and dye my own gray hairs and oh these unpainted fingernails....but I am very content. And in case you're wondering, the ex-husband is a BIG WIG at CBS in Manhattan. I left a whole @#$% load of money and financial security. HOW COULD I DO THAT? well.....peace of mind, happiness, contentment, not having someone RUN MY LIFE was worth the price. I pray daily, however, that Social Security will still be in affect when I retire. Any other details you will have to get AFTER you buy me a drink at the reunion. That's my life....20 years married, almost 5 not, 3 kids, 2 cats, 1 rabbit. What more could I EVER need? Hope to see you all, hear from you, reconnect. I MISS the kindness of UPSTATE PEOPLE...
